There’s something about spring & summer that just motivates me to get outdoors, working on the garden, playing tennis with my husband and taking the dog on long hikes through the park. However, there are some important tips to keep in mind to stay safe when spending hours outdoors during the warmer months. From staying properly hydrated to keeping ProHEMP Pain Relief Cream on hand for aches & pains, keep reading for all my tips.

1. A Pain Relief Cream That Works

Let’s face it – being active outdoors for hours at a time can sometimes result in aches & pains. Bending over to do gardening, playing competitive tennis with the hubby, hiking up those hilly trails- all of these things can cause some pain in my knee and lower back. That’s why I love keeping ProHemp on hand; it’s a 100% natural hemp product that’s fully organic, vegan and cruelty-free. The brand is dedicated to a sustainable, farm-to-shelf production process, providing high-quality products for people all over the world.

Powered by 1000mg of hemp, this bottle of ProHEMP Pain Relief Cream contains menthol, hyaluronic acid, aloe, hemp, and an essential oil blend for superior pain relief. It has a delicate, soothing mint scent and a super smooth & silky texture. The product was quickly absorbed into my skin thanks to a proprietary nano-based materials technology (this technology actually reduces the effective molecular size of the hemp.) The cream actually feels slightly tingly & warming on the skin and leaves zero sticky residue. Plus, these convenient travel packs are perfect for on-the-go use during travel or day trips.

I’ve also been enjoying this Sleep Adaptogen tincture that contains melatonin. It’s the perfect solution to help me wind down in the evenings after long, busy days that include bringing the kids to & from after-school clubs and playdates. This tincture does not cause any next-day drowsiness (like some of the other sleep aid products I’ve tried) and it gently & effectively helps my mind settle down for a night of relaxation. Paired with my journaling & meditation practice, I’ve been sleeping really well recently.

The Honey Sticks from ProHEMP, which have 15mg of hemp, have been a fun – and delicious – addition to my coffee & tea station.

The perfect way to add a little sweetness to my morning cup of tea!

2. Sun Protection

Staying protected from the harmful rays of the sun is crucial all year long, but it’s especially important during the spring & summer. We are spending more time outdoors and many of us are wearing less clothing when it’s hot outside. Make sure you use a sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30 and re-apply it often throughout the day, especially if you are sweating or getting wet.

3. Time of Day

If you’re planning on spending a few hours outdoors in the sun, try to aim for the early morning or late afternoon. Whether you’re gardening or heading to the beach or enjoying a park picnic, skip the midday hours to protect yourself from the harshest sun rays.

4. The Importance of Hydration

Dehydration can happen very easily once the temps rise, so it’s critical to drink plenty of water during the hot days of spring & summer. If you’re planning on doing something particularly strenuous outdoors, it’s a good idea to hydrate before even heading outside; a good rule of thumb is to consume at least 16-20oz of fluids a few hours before any outdoor activity. This way, you start your outdoor adventures ahead of the game when it comes to hydration!

5. Proper Attire

Aim for clothing with a tighter weave (or even better, clothing with a UPF rating) to shield your skin from the sun’s rays. To feel cooler, skip the black or darker-colored clothing and opt for lighter colors. A wide-brimmed hat (or baseball cap) and a pair of sunglasses are also a smart move!
