3 Things I Discovered After 3 Months of Yoga

April 29, 2021 0 By EngineerMommy

I’ve been on a healthier lifestyle journey over the past few months. I talked about it briefly here and here. After doing yoga every single day for at least 3 months, I learned a lot about myself and about yoga in general. Here are some of my discoveries:

  1. Flexibility is a never-ending goal. I am much more flexible than I was when I started. However, when I see other yogis doing various advanced poses on YouTube, I am impressed by how their body bends and contorts. I have definitely improved over my yoga journey but I still have a way to go. I usually do my yoga session in the morning right after waking up. I love the way my body feels after yoga, much looser and warmed up and ready for the day ahead.
  2. Yoga instills a calmness in me. There’s something about intentional breathing and stretching that combine to impart a wonderful relaxation. This is not surprising, as millions of people turn to yoga for its calming benefits. However, I wasn’t sure if it would “work on me,” but it certainly does. I feel a serene sense of peace after a full session of yoga.
  3. Yoga improves my focus level. This one is a bit harder to explain but I’ve certainly noticed that yoga helps me focus better and be more productive throughout the day. It’s a simple no-brainer investment: put in 10-20 minutes of yoga in the morning and enjoy better focus throughout the day.

These are some of the things I’ve noticed after doing yoga every day for months. I have no intention of stopping my yoga practice. In fact, I’m excited to keep improving my flexibility & strength and seeing where I am in another three months.
