The Clever Trick to Unlimited Content for your Blog
March 27, 2018Blogging has become super popular in recent years… and for good reason. There are so many topics you can write about from home – and make good money doing so!
One important element of any successful blog is a consistent posting schedule. You can’t publish one post per month… you can’t even publish one post per week. You need to be posting more frequently. While it’s difficult to say exactly how many posts you need to publish in a given time frame, keep in mind that consistency is essential. And in general, the more often you post, the better!
The Clever Trick to Unlimited Content for your Blog
Of course this is easier said than done. Why? Because most of us have other stuff going on. We may have full-time day jobs. We may have young kids. We may have hobbies, interests and family/friends that occupy our time. So that’s why it’s super important to have a plan in place.
Ever heard the saying “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”? Totally true in this case!
So what’s one trick to having unlimited content for your blog? Prepare a ton of content ahead of time. Always have a long queue of pre-written posts in your blog dashboard so you can easily set one to go live if life gets busy. You don’t need to have dozens of posts on standby – simply having five posts on standby will serve you well. For obvious reasons, these posts should be evergreen in content… that is, not specific to particular months/holidays/events.
If you are ready to write content but are not inspired on what to write, a simple trick is to check the calendar. Look for holidays or awareness events on particular calendar days. These holidays tend to be trending on social media and so are a fabulous way to garner plenty of website traffic and page views.
Another way to find content for your blog is to re-use and re-purpose old content from the blog. Check the archives and find an old post with potential. For me, there have been plenty of posts early on that had a fabulous concept. However, the pictures were of poor quality. If you’re in the same position, it may be a good idea to re-take some of the photos and post the content again with a minor twist.
If you’re looking for content to write, don’t worry about running out of inspiration. Use BuzzSumo and find highly-trending content ideas. Simply enter a topic or a competitor name and find out the content that is performing best for them!
The Blog Topic Generator is another useful tool. You enter in three nouns and the system will give you headlines for blog post topics. It’s easy and it’s actually quite fun to play with this tool. Try this tool out for yourself and see if you don’t come away with a killer headline or two!
Finally, Answer the Public offers the ability to discover the questions asked by the public on a wide range of topics. Simply enter a topic or subject and the system will give you real questions posed by the public. Use these questions to solve their problems. Use these questions as a jumping-off point for new posts.
I hope this post has inspired you to re-think your blog content process. Don’t feel like you’re running out of content. Create a plan and follow through!
