The Ultimate 10-Minute Fort & Other Movie Night Essentials
April 11, 2017This post is sponsored by Tampico. All opinions are mine alone.
As a busy mom, I really enjoy spending quality time at home with my family, and sometimes the best activities are the simplest ones. For example, one of our favorite things to do on a Friday evening is to go see a new movie in theaters, such as DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby that just hit theaters!
However, when we can’t all afford to go out, we love to gather together in the living room for a family movie night at home. Today, I will show you how to create the ultimate 10-minute fort to supercharge movie night at home. In addition to the fort, I will be sharing some of our favorite movie night snacks & drinks, such as caramel popcorn and Tampico. The Ultimate 10-Minute Fort & Other Movie Night Essentials
So here is how you can make the ultimate fort for epic movie nights at home!
1. Set up the structure.
Set up dining chairs to be structural support of the fort. I used four dining chair in the configuration below.
2. Add sofa cushions.
No fort is complete without a comfy, cozy place to sit. We grabbed some cushions from the sofa to place on the floor of our fort.
3. Add blankets.
Add at least 2-3 blankets over the top of the fort to create a cozy place to sit inside.
I had a big helper assist me with this step. 🙂
4. Use clips to secure.
To ensure that the blankets don’t slide off, use large clips to attach the blankets to the chairs. You can use chip clips (from the kitchen) or spider clips (from the office).
5. Add pillows.
To make the interior of the fort extra inviting, add decorative pillows and throws. Now this is definitely looking like a great place to hang out!
No movie night is complete without great beverages and snacks. Our beverage of choice for movie nights is Tampico Peach Punch. The delicious flavor of this drink is perfect for a festive night at home. Did you know that Tampico Beverages, Inc. has been one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality juice drinks since 1989? I love the bright, refreshing taste of this flavored beverage!
I poured some Tampico Peach Punch into glasses. One thing I really enjoy about this drink is the delightful combination of peach and orange.
For movie night snacks, we made caramel popcorn (mostly for the kids) and spiced nuts (mostly for me)! My husband had to work late on that night.
To make the caramel popcorn, I simply 2 cups of sugar into a medium pot and brought it to a boil. Once caramelized, I removed the sugar from the heat and let it cool for a bit. Then, I simply poured it over some popcorn for a festive treat that the whole family loves!
*Tip: To make movie night even more festive, my girls really love to enjoy their popcorn out of these retro containers!
To make spiced nuts, I simply melted some butter in a frying pan and added about 2 cups of mixed nuts. For the spice component, I added 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder, 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Keep cooking until the nuts become glazed (shiny) and then let the nuts fully cool.
With Tampico, caramel popcorn and spiced nuts, we were all set to enjoy a popular animated film together! My girls loved our little fort and dug right into the snacks and drinks.
My daughters really enjoyed our exciting movie night experience. In fact, they wanted to hang out in the fort long after the movie ended.
Tampico was a huge hit with both of my kids and we really enjoyed the light, refreshing & tangy flavor! I found Tampico at my local supermarket and the great taste, price & convenience cannot be beat!

A fort! Oh my goodness .. I haven’t thought about making a fort in so long (my kids are grown now). Genius the idea of using clips .. wish I would have thought about that way back when. Movie nights were always a favorite too and they would have loved your caramel popcorn. Thinking I’ll make a batch for my hubby the next time we sit down for a Netflix date!
