Fitness Essentials
December 28, 2017This is a sponsored post written by me for BODYARMOR and the Mom It Forward Influencer Network. All opinions are mine alone.
Earlier this year, I committed myself to a healthier lifestyle. I am proud to announce that as 2017 is coming to an end, I am still on track with my health & fitness goals! To make my workouts easier, I do rely on certain items on a regular basis. Keep reading to see which items I consider my fitness essentials!
My Fitness Essentials
Change of Clothing
I visit the gym a few times per week. Whether I’m heading to the pool for a few laps or taking a Zumba class, I always bring a change of clothing for after the workout. Spending the rest of the day in sweaty clothing is never a good idea. I usually bring along a complete outfit to change into after hitting the locker room showers.
Proper Hydration
Staying hydrated during (and after) a workout is essential. I have recently been enjoying BODYARMOR SuperDrink. Designed by athletes for athletes, BODYARMOR is a premium sport water. It contains electrolytes, coconut water and vitamins – everything you need to replenish after a sweaty workout. By the way, this drink is low in sodium and high in potassium, which is a smart combination for proper hydration!
Did you know that BODYARMOR contains only natural flavors and sweeteners? That’s something I really appreciate as I’m trying to reduce (and eventually eliminate) artificial ingredients in my diet. BODYARMOR has been serving the needs of athletes for many years. In fact, Kobe Bryant became the number three shareholder in the company in 2013. Since then, BODYARMOR has been the preferred beverage of choice for superstar athletes such as James Harden, Mike Trout, Dustin Johnson, Andrew Luck, Richard Sherman, Dez Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Buster Posey, Skylar Diggins and several others. Recently, in 2017, BODYARMOR launched two new products: BODYARMOR LYTE and BODYARMOR Water.
If you’re counting calories, you’ll be pleased to know that BODYARMOR LYTE contains the same nutrients as BODYARMOR, but it’s naturally sweetened and has only 20 calories per serving. It also contains coconut water, electrolytes and vitamins.
Interested in trying BODYARMOR LYTE? It is available in the following New York markets:
Metro/Suburbs: Stop & Shop, Shop Rite
Rochester: Wegmans, Tops
Buffalo: Tops, Wegmans
Syracuse: Price Chopper, Tops

Fitness Tracker
I love my fitness tracker. I put it on in the morning and usually forget about it until the evening. There’s nothing more exciting than checking it at the end of the day and seeing that I walked 10,000 steps! Whether I’m heading to the mall with a friend or hitting the treadmill at the gym, my fitness tracker is definitely one of my everyday essentials.
Yoga Mat
I am hardly an experienced yogi but I do know a few moves. I like to bring along my own yoga mat to the gym so I can practice a few poses after a strenuous workout. It’s an easy way to unwind and cool down after 30 minutes on the elliptical. Plus, yogas has numerous benefits for one’s mental & emotional health.
Sports Equipment
I do enjoy the gym but sometimes I prefer a competitive game. Back in high school, I used to play basketball at the local courts. Nowadays, I enjoy tennis with the hubby. We have both improved our game recently and it’s a lot of fun going back & forth on the court. For me, my tennis racket & tennis balls are definitely fitness essentials.
Hair Elastics
One of my pet peeves is having hair strands fall in my face during a workout. That’s why I always keep a nice stash of hair elastics in my gym bag, my car, and my everyday purse.
The Right Attitude
When we travel, I try not to give up on my healthy lifestyle & workout goals. Instead of heading to the local gym, I simply head to a local park. I can use the benches to do push-ups and tricep dips. There are plenty of ways to get creative at the park and increase that heart rate.
Audio Player
I don’t think I have ever worked out without my music player. There’s something about having some great music in the background that just takes my workout up a notch or two! I like plenty of different music genres but when working out, my only requirement is that the music has to be upbeat.
Now that I’ve shared my fitness essentials, I’d love to hear from you. What is in your gym bag? Would you love to try BODYARMOR? What are your must-haves for a great workout?
My teen loves Body Amor. He drinks this instead of Gatorade
I love this post! Fitness, health and proper nutrition are absolute necessities and in any person’s life. I love my runs and would not know what to do without them!
Great post and gave me something to think about as i’ve been gym lazy this month, totally over taken with my work but i have been juicing a little which helps. I’ve also added this to my list of goals for 2018 to get back on track with my fitness as it helps me sleep much better.
I have heard of Bodyarmor, but haven’t ever tried it. I’m looking at implementing healthy daily habits in the next year, so I’m going to check this out!
‘Tis the season for getting healthy. I got a jump start on it and have been working out consistently since around the beginning of last month. These are great tips.
