People sometimes mistakenly think that following a healthy meal plan is difficult, time-consuming or expensive, but that’s not true at all. In fact, I have been focusing on healthy eating this year and the tips I’ll share with you here today are easy and simple! In an effort to focus on my health, I’m trying to exercise most days of the week and also make smart food choices, like sticking to lean proteins, fruits & veggies. Simple Ways to Maintain a Healthy Meal Plan
Eating healthier foods starts at the supermarket. I make sure to buy plenty of fresh fruits & vegetables whenever I go shopping for groceries. However, I have noticed that if I leave the fruits & vegetables in their original containers, I am more likely to forget about them. Plus, if I wait until I’m already hungry for a snack, it may seem like too much effort to then wash, cut and prep the fruits & veggies. So one way I’ve managed to make fruits & vegetables a bigger part of my diet is by washing & cutting them once I get home from the supermarket.
I start by washing and cutting all my fruits & vegetables, such as apples, broccoli, celery, carrots, etc. I then place them inside little zippered plastic bags. I store these in my refrigerator and when I need something crunchy to snack on, I grab some carrots! Craving something a little sweeter? I grab some apple slices. By having them washed, pre-cut and ready for snacking, I’m making it so much more convenient for myself to grab a healthy snack, rather than chips or cookies! Plus, if I’m leaving the house and want a snack to-go, I already have these healthy snacks in portable bags!
Another thing I’ve been doing recently is making sure I drink plenty of water each day. It’s essential to consume enough water on a daily basis to make sure you replenish your body with the hydration it needs. However, plain water can definitely get boring! I’ve learned that by adding some fruits or herbs into my water, I can make it much more appetizing for myself.
I like to add some lemon slices and frozen raspberries to my pitcher of iced water. The bright colors just make me smile! The tart citrus flavor from the lemon complements the slightly sweet berry flavor nicely. Oh, and the longer you let this water sit, the stronger and more vibrant the flavors become!
During the week, I’m usually busy from morning until evening. That’s why when it comes time for lunch, I’m always looking for something convenient, satisfying and wholesome. That’s why I’ve been really enjoying the Healthy Choice Simply Café Steamers meals.

Perfect time for me to read this. My husband and I decided we’re going to change how we eat. I love the idea of having snacks cut up already for easy snacking. I think the “planning” will help me stay on goal!

These are a few really great tips to help eating healthier not seem so daunting. I think the prep time is what always leads me to the sometimes faster but not as healthy choices. It’s good to know I can get the best of both worlds with these tips!
