Personalize dollar store lunch boxes with stickers

If you’ve checked out the price of character lunch boxes recently, you’ll notice that a set of character lunch boxes will set you back about 10 bucks! Not bad, but I managed to give my three year old a set of Mickey Mouse lunch containers for a buck! Even better!

I got the plain red lunch boxes from the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago, thinking I would use it to store small amounts of food in my refrigerator. When I needed an easy lunch solution for my daughter to take to preschool, I thought about these red lunch containers. Why not personalize them with stickers? And that’s exactly what I did! I had a sheet of Mickey Mouse stickers lying around the house, so I didn’t even have to buy those for this project.

A few points to consider:

  • You may wonder about washing these containers and whether the stickers would rub off. Well, I’ve used these for about 3 or 4 weeks. I never throw them in the dishwasher. I just hand-wash them. They look pretty much like new!
  • Since this solution is so cheap (ONE buck, people!), you could easily replace the whole set regularly, say, once a month. You could obviously replace it all if the stickers fall off or the lunch boxes look too worn. Or, and this is exciting, you could replace it all if your little one gets interested in a new TV show or a new set of characters. Just use new stickers!

I probably wouldn’t buy a new $10 lunch box every month, but I would update this $1 set whenever necessary to keep my daughter interested and loving her containers!
