The Ultimate Grilled Cheese

One of my family’s favorite traditions is to get together and watch our favorite sports teams on the field. A great game, great food and great company … that’s my idea of a good time! To fuel ourselves for our game day fun, I made the best grilled cheese ever! It’s special because it’s filled with McCain® Seasoned Waffle Fries on the inside, making it super tasty and extra crunchy.

First, gather all the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe: sourdough bread, butter, cheddar cheese and McCain Waffle Fries. I appreciate that McCain potato products are made with real potatoes. They are the ideal pairing with any game day spread!
In order to get the classic golden brown crust on the bread, first I spread some butter on both slices of bread. Keep in mind that the buttered sides of the bread go on the outside of the sandwich. When the butter hits the heat, it will make the bread crunchy & golden brown.
Top the slice of bread with a few slices of cheddar cheese, a single layer of waffle fries and another few slices of cheese.
Add the second slice of bread on top and heat until the cheese is thoroughly melted and the bread is golden brown.
Isn’t this the perfect color? Can we just take a moment to admire the crunchy bread?!
Slicing the sandwich and pulling the bread apart does not disappoint! The cheese is deliciously melted and gooey on the inside. You can even see the waffle fries on the inside! Delicious!
I set out a few of these grilled cheese sandwiches, a bowl of McCain® Seasoned Curly Fries Seasoned Potato Fries and a bowl of McCain® Smiles® Mashed Potato Shapes. The kids really enjoy the Smiles shapes since they’re so fun & delicious.
This spread is going to be perfect for all the game day parties we have planned for the next few weeks.
By the way, this grilled cheese tastes even better than it looks! The combination of crunchy bread, gooey cheese and seasoned waffle fries really makes this a winner!
I have always been a fan of curly fries and these McCain® Seasoned Curly Fries are awesome. They add such a fun burst of flavor to the menu! Plus, both kids & adults alike really enjoy the curly shape!

You can put just about anything on a grilled cheese and call it good. This would be interesting to try out and see how we enjoy this grilled cheese version.
