What comes to your mind when you think of artificial turf? For me, I immediately think of office buildings or sports stadiums. You may not realize that artificial turf has benefits that make it a smart choice for use at home. Here are five reasons to consider laying down artificial turf at home.

5 Benefits of Artificial Turf At Home

1. It Offers Zero Maintenance!
After living a single family home with a sizable backyard for a few years, I can attest to the fact that there is so much maintenance that comes along with maintaining a healthy lawn. From From mowing the grass every week to pulling weeds and spreading fertilizer & compost, there is substantial effort & time required to keep the lawn looking attractive. Of course, artificial turf doesn’t require any mowing, fertilizing or effort- it stays consistently green all year long.

2. It Doesn’t Require Sun!
We have areas of our lawn that doesn’t generally get that much sunlight. What happens in those areas? The grass there barely grows. It’s a real struggle to get any plant to thrive there. With artificial turf, there is no concern about sun or shade. The turf will look great wherever you put it. With the newer UV-coated SP Turf, artificial turf will maintain a bright green look in the sun or shade.

3. It Looks Fabulous!
Nowadays artificial turf doesn’t have that plastic-y look of older varieties. Rather, today’s turf looks fresh, green, healthy and natural. You can even find turfs in various densities and colors to suit every yard.

4. It Doesn’t Require Water!
Water conservation is an important movement for the benefit of our environment. Let’s face it- watering the lawn is a hassle! Skip the trouble and the cost of watering the lawn by using artificial turf. Did you know that a 10×10 foot¬†area of lawn requires over 62 gallons of water? Since artificial turf requires no watering, you’ll keep the water in your hose and the money in your pocket!

5. It Saves Money!
In addition to the water bill, there are a lot of other costs that go into maintaining a lawn. Some expenses include the cost of the lawnmower, the trimmer, the edger, the blower, the fuel source, lawn accessories, fertilizer, compost, weed killer, and so much more. If you hire a lawn maintenance company, that’s also extremely costly. With artificial turf, you can save time & money every single year. Now that’s something to smile about!

It’s easy to see how artificial turf can be a smart choice for home. Now, I’d love to hear from you. Would you consider artificial turf in your home? Is there any part of your yard, where grass struggles to grow? How much do you spend on your lawn every year?

  1. I’ve been thinking about getting some of this for the are of our yard where the dogs go potty. I have a friend who uses it and she loves it.

  2. We have very sandy dirt and nothing grows well except crab grass. I’ve been begging the hubby to do the artificial turf especially in the area where our trailer sits.

  3. When I lived in Arizona tons of people in our subdivision had artificial turf. The hot desert sun can wreak havoc on it though, unless you go with a good quality brand.

  4. Our entire community has artificial turf in their front yards, and due to our home association, we can not change it. I absolutely love it for all the reasons you mentioned and more!

  5. Interesting. I had never thought about doing this before I read this. Now I’m tempted. We might have to look into it.

I Love to Hear From You!
