DIY Notebook with Slime Pocket

I cannot believe how quickly the time flies. It feels like it was just yesterday that I gave birth to my daughter, Sophia, and yet, in a few weeks, she will be starting first grade. She is so excited for this special milestone, and so am I. In fact, she has been talking about back-to-school shopping all summer long, and now that we’re really getting close, I’m gearing up for the transition. From pens and pencils to snacks anddrinks (like Tampico), I am stocking up on all the essentials I know we’ll need throughout the school year.
To create something special for my daughter’s back-to-school transition, I decided to make a DIY Notebook with a Heart-Shaped Slime Pocket. This fun craft took only about an hour to put together and she was even able to help me along the way. This notebook will definitely make sure my daughter is totally cool for school. By the way, keep reading for all the details on Tampico’s #SchoolIsCool Awww Snap! Promotion and how you could be entered to win one of the amazing prizes.
DIY Notebook with Slime Pocket
So here’s how to get started with this project. Grab a black & white composition notebook. Cut out the shape of a heart from a piece of white paper. Place the heart on the front cover of the notebook.
Trace the outline of the heart. Using a utility knife and a pair of scissors, cut out the heart shape from the front cover of the notebook.
Now, it’s time to add a little color to the front of the notebook. I used a roll of decorative duct tape to cover the front of the notebook. Again, I used a utility knife to cut out the heart shape on the front cover.
Let’s make the slime now. Add one small bottle white school glue to a plastic cup. Add a few drops of red food coloring and some chunky gold glitter.
Stir together until uniform throughout. Add a few teaspoons of contact lens solution until the mixture comes together like slime. Note that this slime is a lot of fun to play with- I may have taken a break to play with this for a bit before moving on!
Now place the slime inside a zippered plastic bag and use clear shipping tape to attach it to the inside front cover of the notebook.
Voila! The notebook is complete. You have to try this back-to-school project. Pushing the slime around with one finger is so much fun!
My daughter, Sophia, really enjoyed making shapes and letters in the slime!
When it comes to back-to-school essentials, we always gear with up with books, pens, pencils, etc. but we also make sure to stock up on our family’s favorite snacks & drinks, such as Tampico Citrus Punch.
Both of my kids really love the bright, refreshing flavor of this beverage.

This is just too fun. Would it be weird if I made one for myself since I don’t have kids? I can just picture myself sitting in a meeting and poking at it, lol.
I love this! I would make one for my son, but he’s now a teenager and way too “cool” for anything. I think I will make one for myself 🙂
There’s no shame in that. I will say (from personal experience) that slime is totally fun to play with! 🙂
That is so smart!! I am seeing all the rage for slime. Made it with my kids when they were younger too but you took this to a whole new level! I want to make them now!
I think this is a great back to school activity. I will have to get the supplies I need to make some with the kids this weekend. We are expecting rain so I have been looking for some fun things to do.
What an absolutely adorable idea! I love this! I might have to make one for myself
Definitely! These are so much fun to play with!
What a creative way to spice up your notebook! I would hate for it to puncture though, does that ever happen?
We haven’t had that problem. Of course, it’s advisable not to use nails or other sharp objects directly on the plastic. Let me know if you try this project!
What a fun back to school notebook!! This will get kids pumped up to go back to school for sure!!
What a great idea. My twin granddaughters who love slime would definitely love this notebook.
This is amazing! What a creative and extremely fun idea! I need to make MYSELF one of these!

That is just so cute and cool! I bet my little niece and little nephew will both find that notebook so much fun.
The girls have been having fun making slime. I think we’re going to make this over the weekend. – yolonda
