We Got A Lab Puppy!

My husband and I have always loved the Labrador Retriever. There’s something about the beautiful, blocky head with big ol’ floppy ears that has always tugged at our heartstrings. So last year toward the end of summer, we decided to go for it!
We reached out to a very well-respected Labrador breeder in the area and put down a deposit for a male Yellow Lab in the next litter. In November of last year, we took our lil’ guy home and named him Oliver. We call him “Ollie.”
This lil guy has completely won us all over. He’s literally the sweetest dog in the whole world and it doesn’t hurt that he’s absolutely stunning! 😉 He makes us laugh and smile and giggle pretty much every single day. There’s an innocence about dogs that inspires. There’s an ability of dogs to simply stay in the present – he never worries about this or that. He is always focused on the now and that’s damn motivational. We could all learn a thing or two.
House training Oliver not to have accidents in the house has gone so amazingly well. By about four months of age, I’d say Ollie was about 90% potty trained. By five months of age, he was 99% potty trained. He knows that the backyard is where he needs to go to the bathroom and truly doesn’t want to go potty in the house. I’ll write a whole post on how we trained him soon!
We found so many amazing dog products to help us these first few months. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Dog collar with matching leash: Who said he can’t be stylish on neighborhood walks?
- Dog puzzle toys: These satisfy his need for mental stimulation and also offer the excitement of a yummy treat.
- Raised bowls: When we put the bowls right on the ground, he would pick up the whole bowl, spilling water all over. This raised system is a game-changer!
I’ll share many more of my favorite dog supplies coming up in a future post! Happy tail waggin’!
