Under-Eye Masks 101: Everything You Need To Know

Thank you to VIIcode for partnering with me on this post. All opinions are mine alone.

Under-eye masks have become a true skincare staple in recent years. They’re such a convenient way to deliver concentrated serums & antioxidants directly to the delicate under-eye region. Eye patches can re-hydrate dry under-eye skin, reduce wrinkles & dark circles and simply refresh tired skin. Today we’ll be talking all about under-eye patches: how to apply them, where to store them, and more, featuring my favorite one – the VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Masks.

These oxygen-based under-eye patches from VIIcode were actually developed from a centuries-old, prized-by-royalty formulation. One thing that sets these masks apart from others is that these are approved for continuous 8-hour use overnight. These under-eye masks feature a non-irritating, alcohol-free formula that combines nourishing ingredients to reduce dark circles & puffiness. The result is youthful-looking, well-rested eyes and a more hydrated, even skin tone.

What exactly are under-eye patches?

Under-eye patches are simply miniature masks that are designed for the delicate under-eye area. These masks are most commonly made out of hydrogel, although other materials (cloth, cellulose) are sometimes used. Eye patches are soaked in special serums that feature concentrated levels of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and more.

Why do I need under-eye patches?

The skin around eyes contains fewer sebaceous glands, which results in drier, more delicate skin. The skin around the eyes is also thinner, which makes it more susceptible to wrinkles & other signs of aging. Proper hydration of the skin in this area is key and under-eye patches are a convenient way to achieve exactly this.

What makes these eye masks special?

The VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Masks permit oxygen transfer throughout use and help to improve skin tone & radiance. Specifically, a technology called Ecological Oxygen Plant Extraction (EOPE) helps to revive the skin’s oxygen capacity. It provides oxygen & energy to cells for optimal functioning and radiant skin.

What are the ingredients in this formulation?

These eye masks contain a proprietary combination of natural ingredients, including essential vitamins, herbs, antioxidants, proteins, peptides and fatty acids. One unique ingredient, the Welwitschia Mirabillis, is a 100-year-old ovule from Angola. This plant grows only two leaves, but these leaves can survive for centuries or longer. This specific ability to repair its own cells makes this plant the perfect addition to skincare formulations. Other ingredients in these eye masks include chamomile, jojoba seed oil, resurrection fern, apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil, and more.

Are these masks safe to use for those with sensitive skin?

Yes, thanks to the particular formulation of this product, these under-eye patches are safe to use by everyone.

How do I use them?

Simply remove your makeup and wash your face. Feel free to apply toner if that’s a normal part of your routine. Then apply the patches, according to manufacturer directions. The VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Masks can be worn between 20 minutes all the way up to 8 hours (overnight.) Feel free to use them any time of the day for as many times per week as you’d like. Of course, as with all skincare products, if you notice any irritation, discontinue use.

Where do I store them?

Patches can be kept at room temperature. However, I like to put one of them in the refrigerator 30 minutes before use; the coldness helps to reduce puffiness. However, keep in mind that storing the patches in the refrigerator all the time is not advisable; simply place one in the fridge right before you plan to apply it.
