DIY Holiday Village with NJ Lottery Games
December 3, 2020This is a sponsored post written by me for the NJ Lottery. All opinions are mine alone.
For as long as I can remember, I have set up a little village scene in my home during the holiday season. I love the quaint little houses, mini Christmas trees, street lights and festive townspeople. This year, I’m putting a fun spin on my holiday village. I’ll be decorating the houses with NJ Lottery Holiday Scratch-Offs. It’s a fun, easy way to create a high-impact holiday scene!
By the way, did you know that The New Jersey Lottery (www.njlottery.com) is introducing 4 Holiday Scratch-Offs ($1, $2, $5 Happy Holidays, and $10 $1,000,000 Spectacular) this year? These lottery tickets make such a perfect gift or stocking stuffer for any adult on your shopping list. I love that wrapping is not required, so they’re super easy to give to anyone.
Ready for the easy tutorial for my holiday village? Start by gathering some basic supplies:
- NJ Lottery Holiday Scratch-Offs (the tickets I used in my project were provided to me from the NJ Lottery)
- small pieces of craft wood, various shapes
- popsicle sticks
- hot glue (you can use any tacky glue instead, but please note it will take longer to dry)
- miscellaneous village accessories (townspeople, Christmas trees, street lights, etc.)
Begin by using the wood and hot glue to form a box. This will be the base of the house. Create a simple roof by gluing two more pieces of wood together at an angle. I also used popsicle sticks to add a bit more visual interest to the house. Note: If you’d rather not make your own houses, you can usually find pre-made wooden houses at most craft stores.
For this second house, I used larger pieces of wood and opted for a flat roof. Maybe this is the village bank! 🙂
Next it’s time for paint. I used this light blue paint and just applied a light wash of color on the wood. Don’t forget that a large portion of the houses will be covered by NJ Lottery Holiday Scratch-Off Games.
Using a piece of double-sided tape, adhere the lotto tickets right onto the sides of the houses. I absolutely love the way these houses came out! Isn’t it so cool that I was able to incorporate NJ Lottery Holiday Games into my holiday village this year?! I also added a little red bow and a little piece of garland to the fronts of the houses.
Now it’s time to add all the fun details: faux snow on the ground, little townspeople, street lights, fairy lights, brick road, and more. This is where the magic happens! I put all this inside a gold tray so I can easily move this village around the house as needed.
The NJ Lottery Holiday Scratch-Offs make gift giving simple and stress-free. For example, I plan to display this holiday village in my home throughout the Christmas season. Then, on Christmas, I can hand out NJ Lottery Holiday Scratch-Offs to a few guests.
What a fun twist on my holiday village!! Look at how easy it is to move my little village around the house!
I just know my guests will love receiving NJ Lottery Holiday Games on Christmas. After all, these Scratch-Offs offer the thoughtfulness of a present, the excitement of a game and the possibility of a big cash win!
Want to pick up a few NJ Lottery tickets yourself? Find them at any brick and mortar retailer in New Jersey, such as 7-Eleven, QuickCheck and Wawa. I love getting creative during the holidays and this DIY project featuring Holiday Scratch-Off Games is one of my favorite creations ever!
By the way, if your Scratch-Off tickets are not winners, Million Dollar Replay allows you to enter them into second chance drawings. You could be selected as 1 of 400 who win a $250 prize or 1 of 15 who win a prize between $10,000 – $1,000,000. How exciting is that!
Don’t forget to check out NJ Lottery Holiday Scratch-Offs for your gifts & decor this year. Do you enjoy giving and getting lottery tickets during the holidays?
You must be 18 or older to buy a lottery ticket. The New Jersey Lottery reminds players, it’s only a game…remember to play responsibly. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER®.
