This year is going to be all about health & fitness for me. When it comes to making smart food choices, I often find that I am pretty good about preparing & eating well-balanced, nutritious meals throughout the day. However, snacks can sometimes be a challenge for me, especially since I’m often on the go all day. However, I recently discovered Special K Nourish® Bites! Their great taste & convenient bite-sized servings make them my absolute favorite snack to take with me on the go.
To bring these delicious Special K Nourish® Bites with me when I leave the house, I decided to make some re-usable snack bags out of some pretty fabric. By the way, if you don’t sew, don’t worry! This tutorial is completely free of stitches. These snack bags are the perfect size to tote these snacks with me. In fact, I keep one snack bag in my purse at all times. So when that craving strikes, I am prepared to tackle that craving! Available in multiple flavors (Dark Chocolate Pistachio or Blueberry Almond Quinoa), these Special K Nourish® Bites turn snacking into a multi-sensory experience!
Ready for a sneak peek at the bags I made?
DIY No-Sew Fabric Snack Bags
I absolutely love the way these turned out. Now let’s get right to the tutorial. Here’s what you’ll need for this project:
- decorative fabric
- snack bag template
- scissors
- iron-on hem tape
- iron
- hook & loop closure
- hot glue & glue gun
- self-adhesive decorative trim
Using the snack bag template as a guide (download it here), cut out the fabric.
Using the dashed lines on the template as a guide, make creases in the fabric with the iron.
Now, place the fabric so the right side is facing down. Fold over about a 1/4″ hem on all sides. Add a strip of iron-on hem tape along the two sides of the fabric. See the picture below for clarification.
Fold over the snack bag and iron to secure the two edges. See how the snack bag has a little pocket now. Of course, you can make this bag as small or as big as you would like, but the bag I made is the perfect size for holding one serving of the Special K Nourish® Bites.
To create a closure, I used hot glue to attach hook & loop strips so the snack bag.
To add a decorative touch to the snack bag, I attached a strip of self-adhesive trim.
I loved the way this snack bag came out so much that I decided to make two of them. I will give one to a friend, because snacks should be shared! During a recent trip to Target, I picked up two varieties of the Special K Nourish® Bites: Dark Chocolate Pistachio & Blueberry Almond Quinoa. I love that these snacks feature unique, on-trend flavor profiles that taste just as delicious as they sound!
I love the Special K Nourish® Bites in Dark Chocolate Pistachio! Each bite is a delicious, mouth-watering balance of chocolate and pistachio! These snacks are chewy with just a hint of crunch!
Each serving is 6 pieces and my snack bag can hold one serving perfectly. Now I can enjoy smart snack choices even when I am on the go.
I filled the other snack bag with Special K Nourish® Bites in Blueberry Almond Quinoa. The combination of blueberries and almonds is absolute perfection! I love the pairing of fruits with nuts. In fact, this is in fact what snack dreams are made of!
During the week, I’m always on the go, so these snack bags are definitely going to come in handy. Delicious and satisfying, Special K Nourish® Bites are a win-win!
