Taking something mundane and transforming it into something chic and stylish for my home is my passion! There’s nothing like picking up an old, tattered thrift store find and making it over to look fabulous. Today’s DIY project involves dollar store picture frames! Yes, those plain picture frames that seem simple and boring! Check out what they look like now!

Here are the picture frames in their original condition. You can find similar picture frames here– you can even paint these white, black, navy, etc. to match your decor!
The next step is to take out the pictures and all the backing material (cardboard, felt, etc.) Use the little bend-able clips or sliding clips to keep the glass in place.
Use some hot glue to create a little box with the picture frames. This is the hot glue gun that I use and love!
Fill the box with some dried moss and place a little plant in there! Mine is sitting pretty on my fireplace.

Wonderful. How did you secure the glass and water proof it so when you water the little plant the water doesn’t run out all over every thing.
Thanks for your comment, Carol! I am putting artificial plants in this terrarium box at this point, so there’s no watering necessary.
Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting!
What you use for the bottom of the Glass Terrarium Box.
I just placed a foam board that is cut to the correct dimensions but I didn’t adhere it to the sides of the terrarium. If you want a more permanent bottom, simple adhere a thin piece of plywood or thick cardboard to the bottom. Thanks for visiting!
