Are you a fan of Target? I’m a huge fan of Target and typically visit the store at least once per week. I always love the shopping experience there. I tend to stop by the Starbucks to grab a coffee and then walk around leisurely finding all sorts of fun goodies from the different departments. I almost always visit the beauty department, the home decor section, the snack aisles and the office supplies area. As many of you know, I do like to save money, so I’ve collected a number of tips that help me save money when shopping at Target! Check out my list of Brilliant Money-Saving Tips for Target Shoppers!

Use the Cartwheel app.
Download the Cartwheel app to get discounts on everything from baby clothing to groceries. You can search for available offers on your smartphone, select the offers you’re interested in, and then present the barcode that appears on your phone to the cashier. The discount will then be applied to your total!

Find the right day of week for sales.
Did you know that certain departments put their products on sale on certain days of the week? Yes, there’s a system in place for this. Here’s the schedule:

  • Monday: electronics, accessories, books, baby
  • Tuesday: women’s clothing, pets, food
  • Wednesday: men’s clothing, health & beauty, furniture
  • Thursday: lingerie, shoes, toys
  • Friday: auto, hardware, jewelry

Understand the clearance codes.
When an item goes on sale at Target, the clearance sticker will state the “percent off” that the item is currently being offered. Common increments that items are marked down include 15%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 90% off. So, if you see something you really love and it’s being offered at 15% off (and there’s a lot of them on the shelf), you may want to come back next week to see if it’s being offered at an even steeper discount!

Get price adjustments.
If you bought something that then goes on sale a few days later, you should be able to bring your receipt back to Target for a price adjustment.

Shop the aisle end-caps.
Products that are on sale are often placed at aisle end-caps. So, make it a habit to check these end-caps whenever you visit the store. You never know what gems are waiting for you there!
