DIY wall art: glittery shell & burlap
August 6, 2014I’m a big fan of DIY wall art. Why buy something pre-made from the store when you can flex your crafting muscles (so much fun!) and customize your art to perfectly match your room’s color palette?
I’ve made this shell placemat wall art, these burlap stencil wall pieces, this play room picture frame, these living room picture frames, this entryway picture frame re-do, and so many more. Today’s finished product is going in the master bathroom. I love glitter and I love burlap and this project incorporates both of these elements into a chic beach-themed picture frame.
I had so much white burlap left over after the nautical burlap canvas project and so I was able to use some of that in this project. I love it when I can find stuff to use from my own collection – it feels so resourceful!
DIY wall art: glittery shell & burlap
Ingredients:
- picture frame
- burlap (around 1/4 yard)
- one shell
- some glitter
- hot glue & glue gun
- Modge Podge
Directions:
- Take apart your picture frame. Discard the glass (safely, of course).
- Cut burlap to fit inside the frame. Adhere the burlap to the frame backing with Modge Podge.
- In a separate spot, brush some Modge Podge on the shell and sprinkle the glitter on top. Let dry.
- Use a dab of hot glue to adhere the shell to the burlap.
