Thai iced tea recipe

March 18, 2012 0 By EngineerMommy

I was recently at a local Chinese restaurant, where I saw a beverage on the menu that rang a bell in my mind… Thai iced tea. That sounds familiar! I know – I probably saw Anthony Bourdain trying that on one of his exotic trips on the Travel Channel.

Anyway, so I’m thinking about trying the drink on the menu. I ask the waiter what it is and he tells me, “It’s cold, sweet tea with milk- it’s good!” Word for word!

Ok, I’ll try one glass, please!

And then it arrived and was beautiful and delicious. And I wanted to figure out how to make it at home. It’s pretty simple actually.

Thai Iced Tea Drink Recipe, serves 1

  • 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  1. Steep the tea bags in boiling water.
  2. Dissolve the sugar in the glass and add the milk. Serve over ice cubes!

If you are looking for a more authentic version, try using Thai Iced Tea Mix instead of regular black tea. It will taste more spice-y and exotic!
