Ready for the details on how to make these Loaded Chili Cheese Fries? If you love spicy, cheesy food, you will love this recipe! I started by scrubbing my potatoes to clean them!

I recently bought a vegetable crinkle cutter and it has changed my fry-making game! I love how it creates perfect little crinkles that are all uniform. I placed all the fries in a bowl of cold water to soak. I find that this step creates fries that are crispier after baking.

After soaking in cold water, I dried the potato crinkles and placed them on a baking sheet. I drizzled some extra virgin olive oil on top and sprinkled them with salt & pepper.

I put them in the oven to bake for about 45 minutes, pausing halfway to toss them around.

Meanwhile, it’s time to get started on the chili part of this recipe. I started by browning some ground beef on a frying pan. While the beef was cooking, I added all my spices to the beef.

I also gathered some of the other ingredients I will need for this recipe: black beans, tomato sauce, black olives and shredded cheese.

Once the beef was done cooking throughout, I added it to a pot with the tomato sauce and black beans. I simmered this over medium heat until the chili started to thicken a bit.

Once the fries were done baking, I took them out of the oven to cool just a bit. I love the gorgeous light brown color on the tips of the fries! That cold water soak step definitely results in crispier fries!

Next, I poured the chili over a pile of the crispy fries and sprinkled the shredded cheese on top. This goes back in the oven for 5 minutes for the cheese to melt! Trust me, this extra step is worth it! 🙂
