Getting a Stainless Steel Sink Clean & Shiny
January 11, 2016Cleaning a sink is one of those things that’s never a glamorous activity, but it’s something that cannot be neglected either. In fact, it’s totally possible to get a stainless steel sink clean & shiny using stuff you probably have at home already.
I was able to really get my sink nice and shiny using basic ingredients I always have on hand in my kitchen. Are you ready to see the pictures now? Trust me, this is a great transformation.
Getting a Stainless Steel Sink Clean & Shiny
Now, here is what my sink looked like before the cleaning. Not too bad, from this shot. But trust me, it wasn’t pretty up close!
And here are some of the supplies I used: regular table salt and a lime half!
I simply sprinkled the salt all over the sink and used the lime to scrub it clean!
And then I wanted to make it even cleaner, so then I sprinkled some baking soda on top. I used a paper towel to wipe that away.
To get extra shine, I simply used a bit of vegetable oil and buffed it in! It was so easy and I love how clean & shiny my sink is now!

Don’t have stainless steel sink but do have stainless dishwasher front. Our sink is white porcelain, not hard to keep clean if it’s done regularly which I sure try to do. Now hubs he doesn’t get it. Have to clean that sink before doing dishes, working with food. Think will make little sign. Great post, appreciate info.
Happy week
Thanks, JaneEllen!
Why lime and not lemon? Will it make a difference? Just wondering if I use lemon if I can expect the same level of clean.
No difference, Pat! I used lime because that’s all I had on hand. But lemon would be equivalent.
Thank you.
