As many of you know, I’ve been trying to spruce up my outdoor space this year! Check out this post, this post and this post for more garden inspiration ideas! Anyway, during one of my recent trips to the Dollar Tree, I stopped by the gardening section and picked up three planters. How can you go wrong with $1 planters?! The answer is you can’t! So although I bought three planters, I knew they needed a bit of love. They were just a plastic-y dark blue! I knew I could fix that!

So here’s what I did!

I created a little batch of my custom color chalkboard paint! Here’s how I used this paint in a previous project! (For more chalkboard ideas, check out this post, this post and this post!)

Then, I simply painted my planters. Yes, I had already put some small plants in there. Oops! But that was not a big deal. I was never planning on painting the inside anyway!

The finish of these new planters doesn’t look like plastic at all. These planters look much more expensive than $1 now! The bright color is cheery, too!

I placed these planters on a three-tier planter stand out in my garden! The paint still looks like it did on the first day I painted them! I’m really happy with how they turned out!
