Make homemade strawberry syrup for a decadent waffle breakfast

February 11, 2012 0 By EngineerMommy

I’m not usually one to get up a few hours early to do a lot of prep work in order to make a big breakfast. When it comes to mornings, I am all about saving time but I still like to enjoy a breakfast big in flavor. I found these whole wheat frozen waffles.

I could make waffle batter and use a waffle maker to make waffles from scratch, but that would take a whole lot more time than just popping two of these babies in the toaster for 3 minutes. And they come out crispy and perfect!

I wanted to decorate (eh, I mean, flavor) my waffles and I had a huge bag of frozen strawberries in the freezer. So I came up with the following recipe to make homemade strawberry syrup for waffles.

Homemade strawberry syrup

  • 2 tbsp strawberry jam
  • 1 tbsp lite syrup
  • 3 whole strawberries
  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and combine until smooth. Place in a small saucepan until heated throughout. Pour over waffles.
  2. Garnish with some strawberries and powdered sugar. Enjoy!
