DIY homemade eye makeup remover

December 31, 2012 2 By EngineerMommy

If you’ve ever shopped around for eye makeup remover, you’ve quickly realized that it can be quite pricey. A small bottle of that stuff can easily run over $10 or $20. If you include high-end designer brands, well then the price can skyrocket over $50. Why? Why is that necessary?

I’ve found a recipe to make eye makeup remover that is so cheap and so effective, that I’m forever converted. I will never buy eye makeup remover at a store again.

Ready for the ingredients? Ok, all you will need is … baby oil and tear-free baby shampoo. And water of course.

Get a small travel-sized cosmetic bottle at the local drug store. I found mine at the dollar store – even better!

  1. Add 1 tsp baby oil to the bottle.
  2. Add 2 tbsp tear-free baby shampoo to the bottle.
  3. Fill with water and shake. Use a cotton ball to apply.

I’ve heard that some people don’t like using baby oil on their eyes. If you are one of those people, you can certainly leave that ingredient out and this will still be an effective product. I found that the baby oil helps dissolve the oils in the makeup, but the baby shampoo alone does a pretty good job of removing the makeup, as well. Good luck and happy saving!
