Winter is in full swing over here on the East Coast! Last weekend, we had almost 30 inches of snow on the ground! As the temps drop, I always try to pay extra attention to my skin to keep it looking its best. So today I’ll be sharing some Winter skincare tips that help keep my skin looking fresh & healthy, even during the cold, dry Winter months. I’m also sharing a tutorial for making your own lip balm (using only four ingredients) to keep those lips moisturized! And since Spring is right around the corner, I’ll also be talking about cleaning… not the house, but the face! The new Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub is gentle, effective and so much fun to use- it fizzes when activated by water! And it leaves my skin looking radiant & smooth!
First, let me show you a sneak peek at the DIY Lemon-Scented Tinted Lip Balm!
DIY Lemon-Scented Tinted Lip Balm
Want to make some of this lemon-scented lip balm for yourself? Here’s the easy recipe for whipping together these adorable little lip balms for yourself!

When you first add the red food coloring to the oil mixture, it will look like this. The food coloring will not automatically mix with the oil mixture.
Simply whisk the mixture vigorously for a minute and you will have a uniform dark pink color throughout.
Pour them into a little lip balm container. You can get these containers from the craft store or online. Alternatively, you can always re-use an old (or empty) lip balm container that you may have lying around the house.
After the mixture hardens, the color changes from a translucent dark pink to an opaque light pink! Isn’t it pretty?! I also added small adhesive jewels to the tops of the lip balm containers, because… well, do we really even need a reason for more bling?!
Everyday life is usually so busy, but when I do get some time for myself, I love to pamper myself! Taking care of myself always starts with my face and I love what a great exfoliator can do to my skin. I recently tried the revolutionary Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub & the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser. I’m totally loving how they deep clean & exfoliate my skin! They both contain baking soda, which is a natural cleansing ingredient & exfoliator. What really makes them effective is that they penetrate the pores to dissolve dirt & oil! My skin always looks clean, soft & smooth afterward. And I never have to over-scrub to get all the benefits of effective exfoliation. Perfectly pH-balanced, these products are now a regular part of my evening skincare routine.
The Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub is a really cool product (I’ve already recommended it to all my friends!) You can actually feel the baking soda fizz in your hand when the concentrated powder scrub is activated by water! The first to mass technology, this Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub effectively exfoliates dry flaky skin without over-scrubbing! And it’s so simple to use! Simply press the button on the bottle and pour some powder into your hand.
Add water and watch the fizz develop! How cool is this?! Let me just tell you that washing my face is now totally fun!
I love that you can customize the scrub to adjust the level of exfoliation needed. Want more exfoliation? Use less water. Want less exfoliation? Use more water. It’s a really fabulous product that leaves my pores clean & smooth! I have combination skin, and these products are great for combination skin! Do you have oily skin? Then you have to try Bioré Charcoal products, which are specifically designed for oily skin. The Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser features a dual-action baking soda formula. It dissolves deep-down dirt & oil and also gently exfoliates the skin. With this product, you can enjoy purified pores in only 2 days!
Check out how radiant my skin looks after using these products for a week! My skin is bright, clean & healthy-looking! Oh, and I’m also wearing my DIY lip balm, which is moisturizing and beautifully fragrant.
Whenever I’m taking some time to pamper myself, I always love to create a spa-like ambience. I light some candles and play some soft music to help me relax!
About once per week, I try to take care of my cuticles & nails. After putting an emollient lotion on my hands, I like to slip on these cotton gloves to keep the skin on my hands super moisturized and soft!
Here are some other simple ways I try to take care of my skin!
- Wear sunscreen every day, even if it’s cloudy outside!
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- Use a humidifier to combat the cold, dry air of Winter.

I love a good DIY project! I’ve always wanted to make my own lip balm. It sounds like your Lemon-Scented Tinted Lip Balm turned out great <3
Lemon is a nice scent for a lip balm since it’s not too overpowering and easy on the nose. Sun screen can really help protect your skin especially on the fry months.
I am not familiar with Biore nor have I ever used baking soda products for my face but looks like I am missing out. Thanks for the lip balm DIY
I love lemon-scented everything! The first time I tried to make lip balm, it was a disaster. I need to use your recipe.
I really like the scent of lemon – especially this time of year when we are shut up for so long at a stretch. I think that this looks like a great thing to make for me and some friends as a winter pick-me-up kind of gift.
Those lip balms are so cute! How fun! The Biore baking soda scrub sounds really nice!
I love lip balms. This looks like it’s fun to make. We got more snow here today. I wish spring was here already, but our ski town needs the snow.
I would love to make my own lip balm, especially lemon scented. My lips get so dry during the winter and nothing seems to work.
I bet that lip balm smells amazing! All of these skin care products sound great.

I loved the Biore strips. I need to try the face cleansers.
Such a great DIY! Oh how I need all of these products. My skin is so dry and brittle. My lips keep cracking and breaking. People that don’t live in these types of conditions don’t know the toll the weather is able to take on your skin. Thank you for introducing me to new products, I hope that they are sensitive skin friendly!
I really want to try the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub and Pore cleanser. I will have to look for it next time I am out and about.
I haven’t used Biore’s products in a very long time and your post and review just gave me a thought of trying them out again. I’m so curious about that baking soda cleansing scrub!
Oh you have to try that scrub! It’s so much fun to wash my face now!
I saw this at the store and so wanted to try it out, but I was a little scared. I love that it fizzes up.
