5 Tips for Back to School Shopping
July 20, 2022This is a sponsored post written by me for Shopper’s Find. All opinions are mine alone.
The summer always seems to fly by and I can’t believe we are already thinking about the back-to-school transition. Both of my kids always enjoy picking out some fun, trendy clothing for the new school year. Today, I’ll be sharing some of my best tips for a successful back-to-school shopping experience, featuring .
1. Choose a store with a wide range of merchandise.
Thanks to ShopGenius, a website for finding liquidation & clearance sales, I discovered and I couldn’t wait to visit the store with Sophia. Once we arrived at the store, Sophia & I checked out the shoe department first!
There were so many trendy styles & classic styles – all available at significantly discounted prices. You know I love a good deal!
On our way to the clothing department, we happened to come across the Harajuku Watches by Gwen Stefani and there were so many gorgeous style & color combos. Sophia found a watch that she was completely excited about!
Next up was the clothing department. We immediately noticed all the beautiful dresses. We found so many cute designs for under $10! We brought our favorite ones to the fitting room. After trying on several options, Sophia found a bunch of dresses that she loved! The ones she chose were made from a thicker material so they’ll be perfect for the cooler fall weather.
We thought we were done in the store but then we happened to see some really cute backpacks and it just so happens that she needs a new backpack! There were so many adorable options, but we both loved the emoji one the most!
It was wonderful to get so much shopping done in a single store at affordable prices. works directly with manufacturers & wholesalers to find the best prices on excess inventory, out of season stock, overstock, clearance merchandise and more. If you visit Shopper’s Find, be sure to mention my name – Engineer Mommy – to get a $5 discount on your purchase!
2. Take inventory at home first.
Before heading to the store, it’s a good idea to take inventory of your child’s wardrobe at home. If your child already has an abundance of pants, then you know you won’t need to stock up on pants. If your child’s wardrobe is currently lacking long-sleeve shirts, then be sure to pick up several of those. Taking inventory before shopping will help to make sure your child is starting the school year with a balanced wardrobe.
3. Create a budget.
Whether you’d like to spend $50 or $400, creating a rough idea of a budget beforehand is a good idea. Determining approximately how much you’d like to spend is a smart way to prevent unexpected over-spending or any shopping miscommunication with your child.
4. Let your child pick her favorite items.
As your child gets older, it’s a great idea to give her some freedom when it comes to selecting clothing at the store. This builds up the child’s confidence, as well as letting her develop her own sense of style. As long as the items selected do not violate any dress codes and are appropriate for the weather, I always let my kids pick out their favorite clothes at the store.
5. Start early.
Shopping early is always a smart move. Waiting until the last minute will often result in a lesser selection at the store or the ending of back-to-school sales. If you head to the store early in August, you will also typically beat the last-minute crowds too- that’s a win in my book!
I hope these tips help guide you in your back-to-school shopping adventures. Don’t forget to check out for all your back-to-school shopping. If you do stop by, use my name to get a $5 discount on your purchase.
