Finding Strength Through Music
May 15, 2020This is a sponsored post written by me for Estella Kirk Music. All opinions are mine alone.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone on this planet in one way or another. For me, some days are much harder than others. In my view, the most difficult part of this whole thing is dealing with the uncertainty over the future. When will things go back to normal? Not knowing a definite timeline is one of the most challenging aspects of this situation for me. Recently, I’ve been turning to music as a way to help me cope and I’m so excited to share Estella Kirk’s new song, “Shelter in the Storm,” with you.
While this virus is keeping people apart for the time being, music can bring people together. Did you know that research has shown that music can be a powerfully therapeutic tool in reducing the impact of loneliness and isolation? The right music can absolutely lift a person’s mood and outlook. I have always had a passion for music; every single day, I have music playing in the background whether I’m working, exercising, cooking, etc. Music is both rejuvenating and relaxing at the same time and it can be an excellent way to distract yourself from present stresses.
Have you listened to “Shelter in the Storm” yet? It’s the first single from Estella Kirk, who is a model and singer-songwriter. This powerful song was recently released to spread hope during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The beautiful lyrics talk about turning to God during this time, as well as the power of Psalm 91: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” In other words, when you put faith & trust in a higher being, you can stay strong even within an uncertain, hectic world.
One of my favorite lines from the song proceeds as follows: “But we won’t fear the shadows in the night.” Indeed there are shadows in the night. Indeed there is an uncertainty about the future. However, we don’t have to fear them and we don’t have to become paralyzed by them!
Another favorite line from the song is “Stand firm when the world is shaken.” This line empowers the listener to have faith and stay strong, even when everyone around is crumbling.
In addition to the beautiful, empowering lyrics, I also really enjoy the musicality of the song. Estella’s voice is angelic & pure. The chorus is totally catchy too. After listening to the song just two times, I couldn’t help but sway along to the melody and sing along during the chorus. It’s a feel-good song for sure; listen to it below.
Do you turn to music as a way to help you navigate uncertain times? Have you listened to “Shelter in the Storm”?

I have not listened to this song as of yet, but will add it to the list. My spouse and son love to listen to music, I would rather dance! But soothing music is necessary right now during quarantine.
