First impressions are everything! When it comes to the way a home looks from the street, the details can makes a big difference. Today I’ll be sharing some easy ways to improve your home’s curb appeal. Whether you’re trying to put your home on the market or simply impress some house guests, these tips can have a big impact. From new house numbers to colorful plants, keep reading for all my tips!
1. Maintain the lawn!
Nothing will distract from a home’s curb appeal more quickly than an unkempt yard. Take the time to mow, rake, weed and plant grass seed. It can make a huge difference over the long run. Keeping the lawn watered is also extremely important so if you don’t have underground sprinklers, use an oscillating sprinkler.
2. Upgrade the house numbers!
If your house numbers aren’t easy to see or if they’re dirty, they need to be replaced. I recently received these awesome 10″ Modern House Numbers from QT Home Decor and they make such a tremendous impact to the facade of my home.
I love that these numbers are 10″ tall and super shiny. Plus, they were so easy to install- each one took just a few minutes to install. You don’t need any special tools other than a hammer. The numbers come with a mounting kit made from 304 stainless steel.
Thanks to the hidden mounting plugs, these house numbers have such an awesome floating appearance! Such a modern look!!
They really add a sophistication to our entryway.
Each number is brush-finished for a really nice textured appearance. Also, they’re super durable so I’m confident they’ll look great for years to come.

3. Pay attention to the door!
The front door has a big impact in the overall curb appeal of a home. Don’t neglect it! Make sure the paint is in good condition or give it a new coat. We painted our door green a few years ago and it really adds a lovely touch to our front porch.
4. Add some color with plants!
I love the way that some fresh greenery looks on a front porch. Getting a few colorful plants is an easy, affordable way to make your home look more inviting from the curb. I am a fan of symmetry so get two plants and place one on each side of the door.
5. Don’t forget the mailbox!
The mailbox is typically a utilitarian part of one’s front yard but it doesn’t have to be unsightly. If yours has seen better days, invest in a new one to improve the look of your home. Depending on your needs, you can either go with a free-standing mailbox or one that’s attached to the wall.
6. Don’t forget the fun decor!
I am a big fan of wreaths! I think we have collected at least a dozen over the years and I change it up throughout the year. I have different wreaths for different holidays and different seasons. I like to think of a wreath as jewelry for the front door.
7. Power wash!
If your porch, walkway and driveway have years of dirt & grime accumulated on it, rent a power washer from the home improvement store. In less than an hour, you can restore the life to the front of your home and see cleaner, brighter surfaces.
Improving your home’s curb appeal is not difficult or time-consuming. With the right tools and the right attitude, you can make a big difference in no time!
