DIY Wallpaper Accent Wall
April 8, 2019This is a sponsored post written by me for Artisse™ Wallpaper. All opinions are mine alone.
Sophia’s room has been pink & purple for a number of years now, but she has been wanting to add a little more pizzazz to her space recently. So when the folks at DuPont offered to send one of their Artisse™ Wallpapers, I knew this would be the perfect way to create a fabulous accent wall for her room. I love that Artisse™ wallpaper uses unique technology that makes their wallpaper both easy to clean and very durable. Plus, it comes in a wide range of colors and prints to suit every style.
Here is the wall in her room that I’ll be updating.
The first step was to remove all the shelves and wall art. Then I removed the screws, nails and anchors still in the wall.
Next I sanded the wall to create a smooth surface.
Once the wall was ready, it was time to measure the length of the wallpaper strip we’ll need. I used a tape measure to calculate the distance from the baseboard to the trim.
Then I measured that same amount on the wallpaper strip. We chose the Dazzling design in Purple. I love that it features her favorite color, but it also includes gold & silver edging for a chic touch.
I used a brush to apply wallpaper adhesive right onto the wallpaper. After coating the paper, I let it sit for 15-30 minutes.
It’s important to wait this 15-30 minutes to allow the adhesive to expand the paper. If you skip this step, the paper may expand on the wall, causing bubbles.
After applying the wallpaper to the wall, it’s important to take some time to spread out any air bubbles. Also, use a utility knife to cut away excess paper from the baseboard, ceiling and door frame. One of the things I most like about Artisse™ wallpaper is that it features a protective DuPont™ Tedlar™ PVF coating. This coating is resistant to stains, making this an especially ideal option for kid’s rooms!
When it came time to cover the outlet area, I turned off the power temporarily. I removed the face plate of the outlet and applied the wallpaper to the wall. Next I used a utility knife to cut an “X” shape and used scissors to trim away the excess paper.
Did you know that even with tough stains, Artisse™ effortlessly wipes clean and doesn’t need much upkeep? If you do have to clean the wallpaper, keep in mind that most stains (red wine, ball point pen, coffee) can simply be wiped away from the wallpaper with a wet cloth. In the event of more intense stains (ketchup, black crayon, lipstick), simply use household detergent and wipe with water. I’m all about female empowerment so showing my daughter that girls can tackle home improvement projects has always been very important to me! I want her to have the confidence to pursue her passions. This was my first time tackling a wallpaper project and I’m pretty happy with how it came out!
Artisse™ is indeed one of the highest-performing wallpapers on the market so I know it will look great in Sophia’s room for years to come. She even helped me clean up and put up some of her artwork back on the wall. We make a great team!
I love the geometric pattern of the Dazzling design. It sure does add a sense of sophistication to her room!

Her room turned out amazing! I like that it’s simple to apply, and thank you for noting the adhesive application time and how to cut out around outlets. I like that you were safe and turned off the electricity as well
