The look of custom fabric photo mats: the LAZY way
April 29, 2014You know those fabric covered photo mats? Well, this is a way to achieve that same look without spending much money at all. I had two frames that I wanted to fill with pictures of Sophia in the water. But to just slip the pictures in the frame and call it a day would be… well, boring! And I like to personalize everything.
So I had an idea. I would incorporate some pretty fabric around the photos. Fabric that would complement the color scheme of the room. And I did find the perfect fabric at Joann Fabrics. This lovely light blue and taupe floral fabric is a perfect color palette for our hallway bathroom, which is where these frames are headed.
Tutorial- The look of custom fabric photo mats: the LAZY way
Supplies
- Picture frame
- Fabric
- Modge Podge
Steps
- Take the frame apart, Cut the fabric to fit in the frames.
- Adhere the fabric to the cardboard backing within the frame with Modge Podge.
- Adhere the photo to the fabric with Modge Podge. Ensure that the photo is smaller than the fabric so the fabric can be seen around the photo.
- Re-assemble the frame and hang it up!
This was an easy and fun way to bring a little color and personality to plain, white frames. How cute would these be in a playroom with bright fabric! I love sprucing up picture frames and creating easy, do-it-yourself artwork for my walls. Check out this DIY bird artwork and this DIY fabric picture frame.
