Update boring plastic kitchen stools with pretty oilcloth fabric
March 30, 2014We’ve had these boring, plain kitchen stools for the longest time. They still work fine and are not really damaged or broken, so I didn’t really want to throw them away. I thought I should be able to spruce them up by taking a trip to the fabric section of my craft store.
I looked at many different fabric options, but I knew it needed to be fairly strong and robust fabric that is easy to wipe clean. We will after all be sitting on these stools in the kitchen. And I have two kids! These stools needed to survive the wear and tear of everyday life.
Then I came upon the section of oilcloth fabrics and I was impressed with both the selection of patterns available and the ability of these fabrics to be cleaned. These fabrics had a shine to them that would make wiping off messes a piece of cake! Even cake messes!
Here is the what the chairs looked like originally.
The process was a cinch. I just used hot glue on the bottom of the chairs to secure the fabric to the underside of the stools. And here they are complete! I love them!
