DIY Marbled Pumpkins: Tricks from Bluprint
October 29, 2018This is a sponsored post written by me for Bluprint. All opinions are mine alone.
During the fall, I like to decorate with pumpkins. I buy large ones, medium ones and small ones. I buy orange ones, white ones, and irregular ones. Last weekend, I picked up a handful of small white pumpkins from the grocery store and decided to spruce them up a bit. Using a technique I learned on Bluprint, I added a faux marble design to the little pumpkins. I’m absolutely loving the way this technique looks! Here’s an Untreated and Treated Pumpkin!

Ready to see how I made these marbled pumpkins? To begin, gather the following:
- a tub of water
- various colors of spray paint
- wooden stick / paint stir stick
- pumpkins to decorate
If you are starting with an orange pumpkin, it’s best to spray paint it white first so that the marbling effect will stand out more. If you’re starting with a white pumpkin, you can go right to the marbling. For my marbling effect, I chose a few shades of blue and gold.
Start by spray painting right onto the surface of the water for a few seconds with each paint color in quick succession. Once you’ve sprayed at least 4-5 times, use the stir stick to swirl the colors around. This will achieve a nice marbled effect on the surface of the water.
Once you’re happy with the marbled design, submerge the pumpkin into the water and let dry.
This is just a quick, basic version of the process. For the full details and other smart tips along the way, check out the full Bluprint video for more!

That is such a cool look! I have seen these marbled pumpkins around this year, but had no clue how to make them.
These look amazing. We are just starting to take Halloween seriously here in the UK. I am going to look out for some fake pumpkins to decorate,
So pretty! What a fun idea. We might have to do this next year. I’m sort of over carving the pumpkins and getting the guts all over the house.
That looks so cool! I am always trying to find fun ways that the kids can be creative. This would be so easy and hopefully not too messy.
How cool is that anyone can do this and be creative. This is the first time I have heard about Bluprint seems like a well spent membership to check on.
I have seen this done before but have never tried doing it myself. Maybe next year I will get ahead of the game and give this pretty technique a go.
That would be a lot of fun to make! I am totally testing this out.
Those came out looking nice and sharp! I would love to do this with the kiddos!
Oh these turned out so cute. I need to make some to decorate my house for Thanksgiving.
My teenager actually wanted to do this, this year. She ran out of time, so hopefully she’ll try again next year.
This is such a cool DIY project. This would go perfect with my fall decorations.
Ok, I could get into this! I love the way it turned out! I think they look rather elegant.
That is really beautiful pumpkin I like this idea, I will try with my kids. As they want some pumpkin carving but I can make them do this this year.
How cool is that! You are very artistic with these kind of stuff. I think I will have to give this a try
.
I’ve always wanted to do this, but I always forget about this. Luckily I have some smaller pumpkins, so I’ll have to give this a try with the kids when they get home from school today. I think they’ll love this.
I love this! What a fun and creative idea! Something we will have to keep in mind for next year!
