During the month of September, one thing is for certain around here: we watch football games as a family quite often. For years, we have been inviting family & friends over to cheer on our favorite players on the field. Today, I’ll be sharing my favorite ways to throw the coolest football party on the block. From serving Dr Pepper® to having a winning attitude, keep reading for my best tips!
How to Throw the Coolest Football Party
By the way, I picked up all the ingredients for this party from Walmart. I used their Online Grocery Pickup Service, which is super convenient for busy individuals like myself. I shop at Walmart at least once per week and the convenience of the Online Grocery Pickup cannot be beat! If you’ve never experienced the service, you have to give it a try for your next football party!
When it comes to throwing a fabulous party, it all comes down to having the right elements in place: refreshing drinks, great snacks, festive burgers, party decor, the right mindset and more. Let’s look at each of these elements in a bit more detail.
Refreshing Drinks
No party is complete without delicious, refreshing drinks. We picked up the 12-pack of 12 oz. Diet Dr Pepper cans. We all love the flavor of this soda! Did you know that Dr Pepper is the official drink of college football fans?! It has been popular with college football fans for over 25 years!
A set of these cans is the perfect addition to the party table. I love the rich, indulgent flavor.
We all enjoy this drink, especially while cheering on our favorite teams!
Great Snacks
Having plenty of delicious snacks on hand is essential for a fabulous party experience! For us, one of our fave snacks is chips & salsa. Perfect for dipping during games!
Some cut vegetables is another favorite of our family! We picked up the Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Dressing and it’s the perfect complement to salads, veggies & meats. We love to dip baby carrots & celery sticks this dressing.
We also love wings. It’s the perfect finger food! This also goes well with Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing! I love that it’s gluten-free and free of artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. The great, rich taste is a hit with all our guests.
Party-Ready Burgers
Burgers are a fabulous party-friendly food. To kick up the fun a few notches, we made Pineapple Bacon Burgers. To start, we grill some turkey burger patties on our charcoal grill. We love Kingsford® Original Charcoal (we get the 15.4 lb bag) because it’s made in the USA using 100% natural ingredients from North America.
We love that this charcoal is versatile and easy to light. Once the burgers are cooked,we add a slice a Swiss cheese & let the heat melt on the burger. My husband loves grilling during football season!
Check out the melted cheese. How delicious does this look?!
Once the cheese is melted, I add a pineapple ring on top, a few slices of bacon & some teriyaki sauce. The combination of sweet pineapple and savory bacon makes a delicious combination!
This is the perfect party food for all your football gatherings!
Festive Decor
We always love to go all-out when it comes to setting the stage for a festive football party. We hang a Game Day banner across the window and even leave out a football for guests!
We outfit the table with football-themed plates, cups and napkins.
The hubby & I love to put on eye black to reflect our love for the game!
We also add little flags to the burgers for extra pizzazz! First, cut triangles out of white foam. Next, add them to some toothpicks and stick them in the buns.
Winning Attitude
Watching our favorite players on the field is our favorite way to celebrate the game and enjoy a good time with family & friends!
When one of our favorite players score a touchdown, it’s cause for celebration! We all jump for joy. Even the kids get in on the action!
Look for Dr Pepper, Kingsford Charcoal and Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing products at your local Walmart store. Don’t forget to try the Online Grocery Pickup Service (if available at your Walmart location) to take advantage of the great prices and awesome convenience!

We are a football-loving family as well. I love all your snack ideas and your Pineapple Bacon Burgers look amazing! I need to make them at my next football viewing party.
Hope you try this recipe, Alli!
We do a ton of football parties and tailgating. All about the food and how good everything taste. More about tons of different snack food with different meat dishes included.
I’ve always liked Diet Dr. Pepper! I don’t like football though. But I do like all the food here. I would just put a bunch of food out and eat 😉 And then leave before the game.
All of that food is making me want to have a football party too. I have never tried pineapple on the cheeseburgers but it looks great and I will give it a go.
Hope you love it as much as we do!!
I love football parties and they must have burgers for sure. Thanks for sharing. I love using Walmarts pickup service.
Yes, the pickup service is so convenient!
These are wonderful ideas. We love football in our home. I love the idea of creating a theme for each football game party.
It’s all about the big screen and the food at our parties. The kids and I handle the tech-y stuff while Hubby manages the grill. Lately grilled kebabs have been big at our backyard BBQs.
Yes, good food and a great game = a wonderful time!
Now this is what I call a perfect game day spread. Having the right food really adds a special touch to football season.
Your football party looks like loads of fun. Love your creative yet simple menu! You can’t go wrong by shopping at the curb side pick up at Walmart! I love it!
I can’t believe it’s football season already. I can’t wait to start tailgating again!
Ahh yay! I really like that Game Day banner you put up. I totally forgot that it’s football season among us but I’d love to throw a game day party for my hubby and his buddies.
What a great variety of items! I haven’t thrown any kind of sports party, but this looks like fun. Thanks for sharing your ideas, and I love that you have healthy snacks in there too.

Dr. Pepper makes it all better too. These are some awesome ideas!
I like that cheese flags you put on top. I love carrot sticks with ranch too. I may prepare the same during football season.
I love football season. It’s fun! We usually go to friends house, visit local bars or house a party like this.
This looks like a great way to have a football party. My family loves burgers out on the grill, and those little flags are adorable.
I love a good football game, but never have any idea what’s going on with the game. I just come for the snacks! You’ve got the full spread! I am hoping to score an invite to the next party!
Those burgers look amazing! We also always include wings at our parties, they are truly the perfect finger food.
