I grew up in a soccer-loving family. As a kid, I remember watching soccer matches often. Now as an adult, I’m continuing that tradition with my own family. Recently we have been gearing up for the upcoming soccer championship games and we can’t wait to celebrate with family & friends. When it comes to throwing a fabulous party, I’ve always believed it’s all about good food & drink! Today I’ll be sharing my recipe for Smoky & Spicy Micheladas using the 64 oz bottle of Clamato® Tomato Cocktail.
Smoky & Spicy Micheladas
Soccer runs in our family. Not only did I grow up loving soccer, but my husband did too. He watched soccer matches with his own family and even played on a team during college.
He still likes to kick a ball around our backyard with some of his friends occasionally.
Watching and playing soccer is definitely one of my family’s passions. To spice up our upcoming soccer-watching party, we will make the Smoky & Spicy Micheladas. To get started, gather the following: Clamato Tomato Cocktail, beer, limes, horseradish, liquid smoke and hot sauce. Also gather celery sticks and green olives for garnish – totally optional but much appreciated! I love that Clamato is an authentic tomato cocktail that totally spices up gatherings! It really is the perfect addition to both meals & drinks, such as these tasty micheladas!
Start by pouring the Clamato into a tall glass pitcher.
Add the beer, horseradish, liquid smoke and hot sauce. Also, squeeze in the juice of one lime.
Stir all the ingredients together with a long spatula.
Add a handful of ice to each of the glasses and pour the Clamato mixture on top.
Garnish with some celery sticks, green olives and lime wedges. Pretty straws never hurt, either! 🙂
These micheladas were easy to make and are the perfect beverage for us while we’re cheering on our favorite soccer team on the field. After all, watching the Soccer Championship Games with family & friends is always better with tasty refreshments! Want to throw your own soccer-themed party? Here are some ideas to inspire you:
- Stick with black & white decor. If you can’t find soccer-specific party decor, black & white polka dots work well!
- Accent with pops of green to resemble the turf.
- Pick up a few small squishy soccer balls from the toy store to accent the table.
- Label the dishes with soccer-themed names: Goalie Guacamole, Penalty Punch, Foul French Fries, etc. It will add a fun, whimsical touch to your party.
This spring & summer, kick your beverage game up a notch with a round of these Sweet & Smoky Micheladas! After you’ve watched the soccer matches on TV, get outside and play a round or two!
Pick up Clamato from your local Walmart store. Use the store pick-up option for convenience and ease. That sounds like such a refreshing drink. I have never had a michelada before, but I am excited to make one so I can try it for the first time.
It’s a refreshing drink for sure! Try it- you’ll probably love it too! 🙂
I love a good spicy and smoky drink so I’ll be sure and make this one. I didn’t grow up watching or playing soccer, but I have learned to love it. I even coached a middle school team once.
My husband is a big soccer fan as well. We don’t drink but I am sure many people would enjoy this drink and will be making it this summer.
Yay, so glad you’ll be making this this summer! Be sure to come back & let me know how it goes!
Thanks for sharing this recipe! This would be so much fun to make for girls night in. The recipe looks so refreshing.
Perfect for girls night in! Great idea, Tasheena! 🙂
Nothing beats a cool beverage to drink on a hot summer day. It’s an interesting recipe I’d like to try that someday.
That looks like a drink that would be fun to try. I have never ever tried this beverage before but the way you made it it would be a fun treat.
Yes, it’s delicious & totally festive!! 🙂
Micheladas are the perfect drink for watching soccer! They’re also great for cookouts.
I could use one of these drinks. Especially during summer break when the kids are home from school.
I wasn’t a fan of Clamato Cocktail until I was a little older (in my late twenties) and now I love it! This is a drink that I definitely have to try.
Yes, it’s totally delicious! And refreshing, too! 🙂
I’ve seen so many cool drinks being made, this one included. We’re not very adventurous when it comes to drinks.
Oh my gosh, I havent had clamato juice in forever! This sounds refreshing.
I’ve never made micheladas before! What a way to add more kick to the summer especially during gatherings! I really would love to give this drink a try!
Nice recipe! I’m personally not a big fan of tomato cocktails, i prefer fruity drinks, but i’m willing to try anything once lol
Thanks Gemille! I’ve always loved fruity drinks too, but once I tried a michelada, it quickly became a new favorite!!
My husband loves Micheladas, he is always in search of a good one to try. I’m not a big fan but yours look good. I love the addition of the soccer ball squishes on your table – super cute!
I’ve never tried one of these. It reminds me of my favorite drink – bloody mary. I’m going to need to try this!
Now this sounds like a delicious drink! Yum!!
There you go. Something cool and refreshing on these hot summer days. Love it.
I’ve never had one of these drinks before! Looks delicious! I am all for a spicy cocktail, though!
Oh, this is a great idea for some new drinks to serve for my guests. My friends will be dropping by at my house and I am thinking what to offer to them. I am glad I came over this post. Thanks for this!
Really cool, EngineerMommy! Thanks for sharing!
