7 Practical Resolutions for an Awesome 2019
January 7, 2019This post was sponsored by Splenda as part of an Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.
I always love the start of a new year! It’s the perfect time to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. In January, I always sit down and brainstorm my personal & professional goals for the new year. Today I’ll be sharing some of my specific resolutions for 2019. From taking breaks from social media to switching to Splenda Naturals, keep reading for my best tips. Also, find out about an awesome sweepstakes going on right now.
1. Cut down on sugar!
One of my goals for the new year is to reduce the amount of sugar in my diet. However, that doesn’t mean I have to sacrifice taste in my recipes & drinks. I am simply switching to Splenda Naturals, which is a great-tasting, 100% natural stevia product.
Free of original SPLENDA® (sucralose), Splenda Naturals has no aftertaste and nothing artificial! With zero calories, this is a product that doesn’t mess with my diet. I simply add a few packets to my morning cup of tea for an added boost in flavor! Easy peasy!
If you’re looking to add this to your pantry, pick up the 80ct box (awesome value!) at your local Walmart store.
2. Practice mindful eating!
When I look back at 2018, I felt like I was in a rush a lot of the time. I was rushing to get my work done, rushing to pick up the kids from school, rushing to a play date, rushing through the supermarket. For 2019, I want to slow everything down. I will be working on some time management strategies to better manage my day’s tasks. During meals, I will turn off the TV, put down the phone, and simply enjoy the meal. If I’m eating with someone else (lunch date with the hubby, for example), I’ll be fully engaged in conversation and not tuned into anything else.
3. Focus on protein!
In addition to doing more strength training exercises, I’m focusing on boosting my protein intake in the new year. With Optimum Nutrition, it’s possible to boost my energy and increase my protein in a delicious way! Amino Energy is the perfect pick-me-up for those days that feel like I’m dragging. It’s an easy-to-mix powder that is available in bright fruit flavors. Since it has caffeine from natural sources, it boosts my energy. Plus, since it has only 5 calories and 0 grams of sugar, I can enjoy Amino Energy without guilt. Both my husband and I have added Amino Energy to our morning routines.
The Gold Standard Whey from Optimum Nutrition offers an impressive 24g of protein. Since it’s in the form of whey protein isolate, much of the carbs and fat are removed. This delicious, gluten-free product is easy to mix with water or milk – it dissolves so quickly! Plus, it has only 120 calories, 1.5g Fat and 2g Sugar. My husband has been using Gold Standard Whey after workouts.
The Optimum Nutrition Protein Crisp Bars are a uniquely delicious bar that’s super high in protein (20 grams.) The crispy texture is truly delicious. The portable nature of this product makes it the perfect snack to take along to the gym, office, vacation, and more. I always have some on hand for on-the-go snacks.
4. Finish that list of DIY projects!
One of my goals for the new year involves our home. It seems like we have a never-ending list of DIY projects to tackle. We did a number of fun improvements to the home last year, but I want to do even more this year. I already made a list and outlined which ones I want to accomplish each month. Stay tuned for a very industrious, creative 2019!
5. Choose beverages wisely!
Staying hydrated is essential for overall well-being. I am committed to drinking more water (and unsweetened beverages) in 2019. However, just because I’m watching my calories and choosing foods carefully doesn’t mean I’m willing to completely give up my favorite social drinks. In fact, I recently discovered Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold. I really love that it has only 85 calories and 2.5 carbs. Plus, it’s free of artificial colors & flavors!
I can still enjoy the refreshing, crisp taste of this light lager without any of the guilt!
This variety is made with organic grains for a pure, golden taste. Enjoy responsibly.
6. Take breaks from social media!
There were days in 2018, where I felt like I was tuned into social media too much. Did that Instagram post get enough likes? Did I respond to those blog comments? Did I remember to run that Facebook ad? Social media is in many ways the lifeblood of the Internet nowadays, but it can certainly feel all-consuming at times. For 2019, I am going to set aside a few hours per day (and maybe even one day per week), where I don’t do anything at all on social media… no matter what!
7. Be comfortable saying “no”!
Like many moms, I can sometimes find myself spread too thin. I take on more work than I can reasonably handle and I say “yes” more than I should. For the new year, I am committed to being more selective about the work I take on. I want to make sure that I have enough time left over for everything else… like bringing the kids to the playground or meeting the hubby for an impromptu lunch.

Technically I already gave up on my resolution LOL, but I am making an effort to eat better this year.
We have been eating healthier for sometime now and feel so much better. We use whey but get it from the homemade cheese we make and we keep the whey. Drink tons of water. Less meat more vegetables and beans.
I am trying really hard this year to eat much better than I did last year! I exercise regularly and I am doing much better on what I eat but this is definitely helpful. I’ll have to try Splenda.
These are all great tips. I think too many people forget to get in enough protein when they’re trying to eat healthily. You need enough of everything when you’re improving your lifestyle.
This year I’m making more of an effort to read more. I’ve really struggled in the past years with my reading lists.
I am cutting down on refined sugar currently and will only be using honey. The amino energy from ON is beyond amazing for boosting energy levels
I’m like you, saying no more and literally not picking up my phone or logging onto any media on specific days. I gave up all alcohol over 2 decades ago and gave up all sugary drinks last year – feel so much better!
I do enjoy Splenda! I need to start using it more since I eat a lot of sugary things. I’ve also grown more comfortable saying no. I find I’m happier that way.
These are all practical and totally achievable! I think that’s most important when making goals.
Those are all great resolutions. It’s good to have a plan for the year with goals. I need to think more about mine and make a real list. Those all look like great products to try.
Saying no can be so freeing. Being available is great but when it starts to spread ourselves thin it becomes a problem and then burnout happens. Among other things. Balance can take practice and it is very worth it. Great post!
I am planning on focusing on mindful eating this year. And I will be taking breaks from social media for my mental health.
I am cutting sugar and carbs more so this year that I did last year. It makes me feel so great inside.
These are really great and helpful tips to have a wonderful year. I am planning to have a healthy diet this year, hope I can!
I love this post, very inspiring. I plan on keep going with the healthy goals that hubby and I started laST YEAR, so far so good.
I definitely need to cut down sugar. It’s so hard for me to do it but thanks to this, I might be able to this year.
I don’t normally keeping notes for new year resolution just because a lot of times I never follow it. But this year I decided to be more discipline on and find ways to be motivated esp. on eating healthy and more active.
