5 Ways I Treat Myself

As a busy mom that’s always on the go, I used to put everyone’s needs before my own. It was easier to focus on everyone else and sorta neglect myself. However, over the years, I realized that I cannot be there for everyone else if I am not also making sure I prioritize some “me” time. Today I’ll be sharing five easy ways that I make time for myself!

5 Ways I Treat Myself

1. Do an at-home spa session!
This one is easier than it seems. Here are some ways that I create a spa ambiance at home to decompress and unwind.

  • Prepare spa water by infusing some cucumber slices & lemon slices in a big pitcher of iced water.
  • Play soft classical or jazz music.
  • Soak my feet in a warm bath filled with epsom salts.
  • Do an at-home manicure, paying extra attention to my cuticles.
  • Put my feet up and sip a relaxing tea, such as chamomile.

2. Watch reality TV!
Yes, this is a guilty pleasure of mine. While I don’t always find the time to sit back and watch TV, I do try to make time for simple pleasures like this on a regular basis. When I can find the time, I’ll kick back, put my feet up, watch my fave shows & enjoy a great snack!

3. Hire help!
I can’t be everything to everyone – all the time. In general, I am the person that picks up the kids from the bus, works a full-time job, helps a few family members regularly and cleans/maintains our house. Sometimes I’ll treat myself by hiring a cleaning service to take care of some cleaning / maintenance chores in order to give myself more time to spend with the kids & the hubby. It’s a simple step that gives me more free time – and that is something I value!

4. Schedule down time!
Nowadays the tendency is to fill the schedule with tasks from morning until night. I have been there… I have done that. However, I have learned that if I schedule in some down time every day (to read a book for 25 minutes or simply close my eyes on the sofa), I am happier and less stressed overall. It’s such an easy way to do something special for myself – even on those super busy days!

5. Indulge in a delicious treat!
Sometimes when I need a pick-me-up, I’ll indulge in a delicious treat like the OREO Chocolate King Size Candy Bars. I picked a bunch of them up in-store at Walmart.

Have you ever tried these? They are basically OREO Cookies that are enveloped in vanilla flavored crème filling and coated in chocolate candy! Super delicious!
