5 Fabulous Ways I Cherish MyselfOctober 24, 2017
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Black Dinah Chocolatiers . All opinions are mine alone.
As a busy mom of two young kids, I’m always on-the-go, running from activity to activity and taking care of errands along the way. That’s why I have always cherished my “me” time – you know, those moments I get to myself where I can unwind and decompress. Today, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite ways to spend that time. From taking a long, lavender-scented bath to indulging in Black Dinah Chocolates, find out how I take time for myself every day.
5 Fabulous Ways I Cherish Myself
1. Read a magazine!
If I’m having a particularly stressful day, there’s nothing more relaxing than sitting in my comfiest chair with some of my fave magazines. I usually bring a big ol’ mug of tea with me and spend time flipping through the pages. I’ve been really into home design magazines recently. We’re actually in the process of renovating some rooms of our home, so getting inspiration from the magazines has been both fun & practical. By the way, I’m also really loving the Zinio app on the iPad – it lets me get the newest editions of my fave magazines digitally.
2. Indulge in chocolates!
For as long as I can remember, I have always been a fan of chocolates! I recently discovered Black Dinah Chocolatiers and I’m totally in love with their selection of fine, handcrafted chocolates.
A small business with roots in Maine, Black Dinah Chocolatiers is committed to infusing local ingredients into the highest-quality chocolate to bring exciting new flavor combinations to fans all over the world. Just look at this colorful box of little chocolate confections! Doesn’t it just put a smile on your face?!
I’m loving that Black Dinah Chocolatiers offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free selections so consumers with various dietary needs will all be able to find something they love! If you’e looking for a special way to treat yourself this year, look no further than Black Dinah Chocolatiers! Black Dinah Chocolatiers is run by Steve and Kate Shaffer (husband & wife), who are devoted to creating decadent confections that feature premium teas, organic locally-roasted coffee, fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables, edible flowers and whole spices. By the way, they get their sustainably-grown chocolates from world-renowned producers that follow ethical business practices. Did you know that Kate even has a background as a chef (by the way, her cookbook is full of inspirational stories & recipes!)
The first chocolate that caught my eye is this one! Are those floral scrolls not amazing??
It’s a Peruvian dark chocolate ganache center and is covered in dark chocolate from Venezuela. It’s a beautiful adventure for the taste buds.
I’m also a huge tea fanatic so when I spotted this Earl Grey Milk Chocolate one, I knew I had to try it next. It is reminiscent of everything I love about a mug of earl grey tea combined with the sweet decadence of a chocolate confection.
With Black Dinah Chocolatiers, you can surely taste the difference! Be sure to browse their selection of chocolate gifts, especially all the seasonal varieties. By the way, all orders over $75 get free shipping. Plus, I have a special promotion to share with you. Get $10 off orders of $50 or more through December 31, 2017 with the promo code: Welcome10
3. Take a bath!
After a long day taking care of errands & tending to toddler tantrums, I need to make time for myself. What’s one of my favorite ways to unwind? Taking a long, hot bath, of course! I like to whip out my favorite bubble bath solution and even light some candles to set a relaxing mood. Another thing I’ve been enjoying is to pour a few drops of lavender oil into my diffuser – it creates the most soothing scent imaginable throughout the whole room.
4. Pursue a passion!
Do you love concocting unique recipes in the kitchen? Is painting one of your fave hobbies? Whatever your passion, make time to focus on it regularly- it will help to recharge you. I have a number of different hobbies, but one thing that really makes my heart sing these days is transforming a thrifted find into something chic & glamorous. I recently found this battered pumpkin at the thrift store and completely made it over to look like an elegant piece for the Halloween season. I simply painted whole pumpkin a light blue color, painted a bug silhouette in black and added two jewel-encrusted push pins for the eyes.
5. Create an at-home spa experience!
As a busy mom of two that’s always on-the-go, I don’t have time to visit the salon as often as I’d like. That doesn’t mean I neglect my nails or my skin or my hair. I just bring the spa experience home! When I get some time to myself (usually in the evenings after the kids are in bed), I like to polish my nails and try out the latest facial & eye masks. I’ve even been known to throw some coconut oil into my hair for a moisturizing mask. It’s an easy way to focus on self-care and making time for my needs.
I hope these tips have inspired you to focus on yourself this year. Don’t let the everyday stress of life overwhelm you. Find time every day (or at least every other day) to do something just for yourself!
Now, I’d love to hear from you. What is your favorite way to unwind? Have you ever tried Black Dinah Chocolatiers? What is your most relaxing hobby?
