For the longest time, my husband and I wanted a dog. Not just any dog. We specifically fell in love with the labrador retriever breed many years ago. There is something special about that cute boxy head and silky smooth fur. We also really liked the fact that labs are family-friendly dogs that are easy to train. About a month ago, we decided it was time to add a dog to our family and we got our first dog: a male yellow lab puppy we named George!
Everything was a learning experience in the beginning: where he would sleep, how we would train him, what he would eat, etc. We quickly got into a groove with George and our pet food choice was an easy one. We decided that feeding him PEDIGREEĀ® POUCH 18ct Meaty Ground Dinner with Beef, Hearty Chicken/Beef, Bacon & Cheese from Walmart was a no-brainer! This delicious wet food may be served as a treat, as a topper for dry food or as a whole meal on its own. To make feeding and treating George easier, I also made a DIY Pet Treat Pouch and I can’t wait to share the easy tutorial with you.
One of my favorite early memories of George was our first day at home with him! The girls were in school, so we first brought him outside to our backyard. He sniffed around for a while and found some of our girls’ toys. He really loves being outside. There’s something about being in the great outdoors that makes him content. He is happy to sniff the flowers, chew on twigs, and watch the cars go by. Here he is on our lawn – isn’t he so cute?
Once inside, George had a blast exploring every inch of the home. He really warmed up to us quickly and we fell in love with him right away! His adorable face melts my heart every time. Perhaps my favorite memory of his first day with us was when we introduced him to our daughters. Once they came home from school, they were beyond ecstatic that the puppy was finally here. They knew we were going to get a puppy one day soon, but they didn’t know exactly which day! Once they got home, they played with the puppy for a while and really tired him out. They played tug-of-war and fetch. Eventually, he was exhausted and just lied down on our floor to take a nap.
George is such a lovely addition to our family and we love having him. Now, let me share the tutorial for making this DIY No-Sew Pet Treat Pouch. Perfect for giving treats on the go, this pouch is a quick project that you can use for years to come!
DIY No-Sew Pet Treat Pouch
Here are the supplies you’ll need for this project:
- fabric, approximately 8″ x 6″
- fabric glue
- hook & loop fasteners
- vinyl ribbon, approximately 1″ x 30″
- fabric embellishments / decorative trim (optional)
- hot glue
Start by turning the fabric right side down. Fold over 1/2″ of the fabric on all four sides and use the fabric glue to secure.
Notice how clean and crisp the edges are now.
Fold over the fabric twice and apply glue along the sides to create a little pocket. Download this printable template to see how I folded & glued my pouch!
Apply a strip of decorative trim along the front of the pouch. Secure with hot glue. This step is optional, but I love the added glamour that this adds to the pouch.
Use hook & loop fasteners (apply with fabric glue) to secure the flap of the pouch.
On the back of the pouch, apply hot glue to permanently attach the vinyl ribbon.
I love the way my treat pouch came together. It’s perfect for holding a bunch of treats for my dog and handing them out to him as we work on training.
George is really getting great at learning tricks and I’m having so much fun teaching him to sit, lie down, give a paw, and more. After a training session, George is usually pretty hungry. During a recent trip to Walmart, I picked up PEDIGREEĀ® POUCH 18ct Meaty Ground Dinner with Beef, Hearty Chicken/Beef, Bacon & Cheese. This package is a great value and contains 18 individual, easy-tear pouches filled with delicious wet food for dogs! With no messy leftovers, these pouches are a smart choice for my household.
In addition to the wet food, I picked up PEDIGREEĀ® Dry Complete Nutrition Chicken Large Breed, 36.4 LB. This product is ideal for large breed dogs, as it contains all the nutrients that larger dogs need to thrive.
For the PEDIGREEĀ® POUCH 18ct Meaty Ground Dinner with Beef, Hearty Chicken/Beef, Bacon & Cheese, the general guideline is to feed 3 pouches daily per 10 lbs. of adult dog. Of course, any individual dog’s needs may differ. Another way I like to serve these pouches is to mix the dry food with the wet food.I simply add one of the wet food pouches on top of PEDIGREEĀ® Adult Complete Nutrition dry dog food. It adds so much flavor and my dog absolutely loves the combination. These pouches have been recently reformed at Walmart and are the perfect addition to our mealtime routine. By the way, my dog loves that rope toy- I simply grabbed some thick rope, twisted it, and tied knots on both ends. It’s one of his favorite things to chew.
The convenient pouches come in multiple flavors, such as:
- Meaty Ground Dinner with Hearty Chicken
- Beef, Bacon & Cheese Flavors
- Meaty Ground Dinner with Slow-Cooked Beef
With the PEDIGREEĀ® Pouches at Walmart, it’s so easy to serve my dog food on the go! I love that this wet food is so easy to mix.
The PEDIGREEĀ® Dry Complete Nutrition Chicken Large Breed dry food is offered at such a fabulous value at Walmart. It provides the quality that my pup deserves, along with the cost savings that I appreciate!

What a cute pet treat pouch! I love that it’s no-sew! My German Shepherd, Max, had surgery this past week, so he’s getting a few extra treats and lots of TLC. He’s such an important part of our family.
So cute! Love that you can use this on the go and I am sure that your furry friend loves it too!
That is very cute. Anything that is no-sew is good with me. My dog, Toby, loves his treats!
That looks like it’s easy enough that even I can make it! I am not the most creative person but I can create stuff when I see how it’s done. I really like this idea because we are in the middle of training our puppy.
I LOVE no sew projects. This is such a fantastic idea for training! #client
What a smart idea! It is going to be so easy to give treats to my dog when we’re out walking with this pouch. My fur baby loves wet dog food, and his favorite is Pedigree Beef Chunks in Gravy. Oh the smile on his face after he’s had his dinner is so priceless. š
This DIY no sew pet treat pouch is a great idea to make. I am going to have to make a couple and gift them to my sisters too. The Pedigree Pouches at Walmart I will have to check out for sure too. Thanks for sharing the no sew pet treat pouch and the dog food.
What a great idea. We have two golden retrievers that are nine months old .. so we’re in the thick of training. This would be perfect for stashing their treats in!
Are your doggie is so cute. Now this is a fun creative idea for a cute pouch.
Wow. What an awesome job you did with your treat bag! I just love it! I cannot even sew on a button… so I’m very impressed with your sewing skills!!
I love the no-sew pouch and am willing to bet my dog would love the Blue Santa Snacks!
oh my gosh love this – going to cut up some old jeans now. thank you
I tried making one and the measurements are incorrect. I do not get what you mean by 17 inches on both side. My pouch was more like a large purse.
Hi Callie. Thanks for your question. As stated in the list of supplies, the starting piece of fabric should be approximately 8″ x 6″.
Great Idea. Easy to follow every step. Keep up sharing!
