5 Ways to Save Money Online

When it comes to shopping online, there are many ways to save a buck or two… or twenty. In fact, paying the full retail price is downright criminal when it comes to purchasing stuff online. Check out my 5 tips to see how you can make your dollar stretch farther online.
5 Genius Ways to Save Money Online
1. Look for sales!
Many online retailers offer sales & deals at various points throughout the year. For example, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the most famous ones. However, many site even offer daily deals, where one or two products are offered at a steep discount. For example, Amazon always offers Lightning Deals that are generally an amazing value!
2. Use sites that reward repeat business!
Do business at sites that reward customers for making multiple purchases over time. If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’ll remember I posted about switching to a clean lifestyle a few weeks ago. I shopped at Ecocentric Mom and I love that the site offers rewards points. So here’s how it works: you earn one point for every dollar you spend on the site (shipping charges do not count). Then you can redeem ten points for every $1 towards a future purchase from their Shop. Points expire one year after they are rewarded, so it’s best to shop early.
Here are a few items I picked up by applying the reward points I earned. I found this set of Sprout Ware Snack Cups. I love that they’re made from plant-based materials and are reusable. Since they come with lids and stack nicely on top of each other, I know I will be getting a lot of us out of these throughout the summer. Perfect for taking snacks on-the-go.
I also grabbed the Laundry Soap Stick, which is perfect for getting stains & odors out of todder & preschooler clothing. I have already tried it and love how it works to remove dirt, oil, and grease from all kinds of fabrics.
The last thing I picked up is the Natural Toothpaste in Blackcurrant flavor by Jack N’ Jill Kids. Since it’s completely safe to swallow, I can rest assured that my kids can practice tooth brushing every day. I love that it contains xylitol, which is a natural cavity fighter.
I love that I was able to purchase these things using rewards points from a previous purchase!
3. Take advantage of cash back rewards!
When I shop online, I almost always go through my credit card’s website. They offer a cash back program, where every purchase made through the credit card’s website is subject to a certain amount of cash back. Sometimes the cash back amount is 1% but it can be as high as 5%. The amounts definitely add up over time, and I have cashed out the rewards for a gift card to one of my favorite stores. It’s a no-brainer way to earn money over time.
4. Use mass coupon sites!
Want to try a new restaurant in town? Or maybe you’re in need of a great manicure and pedicure? Be sure to check sites that offer coupons to the masses. I like Groupon because they always have great deals on local events, products and services. I recently purchased admission to a local kid’s play place for 70% off! What a bargain!
5. Apply promo codes!
When all else fails, look for a promo code online. Sometimes it’s for free shipping and sometimes it’s for a certain percentage off the total purchase, but it’s always worth the hunt. I love a great deal and promo codes are a smart way to make your dollar stretch a bit farther. I like to check RetailMeNot for the latest codes.
I hope this post has inspired you to find ways to save more money online.
