This year, I am really focusing on making my health & fitness a priority in my life. Toward the end of last year, I sprained a leg muscle and that injury kept me out of the gym for months! Now that my leg has healed (almost fully), I am really trying to get back in the gym regularly and make smarter food choices! That includes reducing the sugar content in my diet and Truvia® Natural Sweetener Spoonable really helps me do just that! I can eliminate the sugar in my recipes, but still enjoy all my favorite dishes, even the sweet ones!
It’s amazing what a big difference a few simple steps can make! In addition to incorporating Truvia® Natural Sweetener Spoonable into my recipes, I am also making a concerted effort to drink more water. I always have water infused with fruits & herbs by my side throughout the day- it encourages me to drink more! Another simple step I am taking is to get out and walk more. Even 30 minutes of brisk walking per day is enough to get the muscles moving! I’m also trying to make sure I get adequate sleep at night by going to bed earlier in the evening. These are all really basic measures that can make a huge, positive impact on one’s health over time.
Here’s a sneak peek at my finished recipe!
Sweet & Spicy Slow Cooker Meatballs
I’m so excited to share with you all my delicious, easy-to-prepare recipe for Sweet & Spicy Slow Cooker Meatballs! It’s totally delicious and can be conveniently made in the slow cooker! Best of all, rather than any added sugars, this recipe incorporates Truvia® Natural Sweetener Spoonable, which is a zero-calorie, stevia-based sweetener. I am absolutely loving the Truvia® Spoonable because it’s so versatile and can be used in both sweet & savory dishes! You can find so many delicious recipes that incorporate Truvia Spoonable here. The taste is quite delicious and I can easily replace the sugar in my recipes with Truvia Spoonable! One packet of Truvia Natural Sweetener provides the same sweetness as two teaspoons of sugar, so it’s the perfect product if you’re looking for ways to reduce calories or reduce sugar in your diet!
Now, here’s the recipe!
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, diced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmigiano
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2/3 cup Truvia® Natural Sweetener Spoonable
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 3 tbsp. reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tsp. hot sauce
- 2 tbsp. corn starch
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1. Combine all the ingredients for the meatballs in a medium mixing bowl.
- 2. Form the mixture into small bowls. Place at the bottom of a greased slow cooker.
- 3. Combine all the ingredients for the sauce in a small mixing bowl. Whisk thoroughly.
- 4. Top the meatballs with the sauce.
- 5. Set the slow cooker to cook on High for 4 hours.
- 6. Serve warm.
Here are all the ingredients required to make the sauce!
I whisked the mixture vigorously to get the sauce really smooth.
*TIP: When forming the meatballs, I find that if I wet my hands with some water, it really helps to form nice, round meatballs, while preventing the meat mixture from sticking to my hands.
I love that I can throw these meatballs in the slow cooker and then come back hours later to a tasty, wholesome meal! The meatballs were full of flavor and the sauce was absolutely delectable! It’s so easy to cut down on sugar intake when you incorporate Truvia® Natural Sweetener Spoonable into your everyday dishes!
If you like your sauce extra spicy, feel free to use more hot sauce! Prefer it more mild? Use half of the hot sauce!
Paired with a nice salad, these meatballs make a really nutritious, balanced lunch!

Is there a picture of the type of chili sauce suppose to be used? I’m confused if its hot chili, sweet chili or the tomato based chili I see for the heinz, as multiple are mentioned in the comments. Let me know, thanks!
I use a jar simply “Chili Sauce”- it’s a red sauce usually found in the same aisle as pasta sauces. Hope this helps!
