No More Bad Hair Days: Tips for Fuller Hair
July 7, 2016As a former hair model, my hair has been subjected to so many treatments and processes over the years. The result? My hair can definitely appear dry & brittle and be generally hard to manage. To make matters worse, hereditary hair loss runs in my family, so I have been dealing with thinning hair, as well. Today, I will be sharing my tips for fuller, healthier hair. From using Women’s ROGAINE® to setting the hair dryer to a cool setting, I’m sharing all my tips on getting fuller hair! Let’s all bid farewell to bad hair days!
No More Bad Hair Days: Tips for Fuller Hair
1. Use Women’s ROGAINE®
Did you know that hereditary hair loss is a normal part of aging among females? Up to 42% of women will notice some hair loss in her lifetime. (Source: 2014 Gallup) When it comes to tackling the early signs of hereditary hair loss, Women’s ROGAINE® should be the main component of your anti-aging arsenal. It’s an effective treatment for hereditary hair loss. Many people mistakenly believe that hereditary hair loss is the result of stress. However, that’s not necessarily the case. In fact, the leading cause of hair loss among women is genetics or Hereditary Female Pattern Baldness (90% of cases).
Not treating hair loss can be very detrimental! In fact, when left untreated, hair thinning can worsen over time; women can lose one-sixth of their hair density in a period of 10 years. However, Women’s ROGAINE® can treat hereditary hair loss and has over 25 years of clinical trials & research behind it. It’s actually the #1 dermatologist and #1 stylist-recommended brand for hair regrowth!
Women’s ROGAINE® is the only FDA-approved once daily treatment. It works by regrowing fuller, thicker hair. When applied right to the scalp once a day, every day, most women will notice fuller, thicker hair about 12 weeks later. Please note that the product is compatible with color-treated hair and styling products.
Women’s ROGAINE® 5% Minoxidil Topical Aerosol can be incorporated easily into your daily beauty routine. It’s so simple to use! Part the hair (to help maximize scalp exposure), massage it into the scalp, and allow it to dry. I love that it’s not greasy and doesn’t weigh down the hair. It’s easy to apply it right where it’s needed most! Look for Women’s ROGAINE® 5% Minoxidil Topical Aerosol at retailers nationwide. You don’t need a prescription and you can get a 2-month supply for $29.99.
Not sure if you’re experiencing hereditary hair loss? Keep in mind that most people lose between 50-100 hairs a day and that is considered normal hair loss. However, losing 150 hairs a day is considered significant and requires treatment. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Jill Crosby, celebrity stylist and brand ambassador for Women’s ROGAINE®. Here are some interesting things she shared with me:
- If a woman is has hair loss “in her family—from her mother or father’s side, she may be experiencing hereditary hair loss and could be a good candidate for Women’s Rogaine Foam.”
- One of the first signs of hair loss “a woman may experience is running her hand through her hair and more than 6 strands come out at a time or excess hair in the shower drain. If she is noticing a pattern along the hair line on top of more loss, a thinning of her part, this too could be a sign.”
- After starting Women’s ROGAINE®, “you can see results as early as 12 weeks into the treatment. In our study 81% of women regrew hair and it was up to 48% thicker with 25% more hair, huge numbers!” Isn’t that amazing?
- Since women’s “thinning hair experience is different from each other’s, we put up some how-to videos at WomensRogaine.com to help show women a few tips and techniques on how to style, cut and color their hair while regrowing it.”
2. Drink plenty of water
For healthy, manageable hair, it’s so important to drink plenty of water throughout the day. I try to keep a water bottle with me throughout the day to encourage myself to stay hydrated. Flavoring my water with herbs or fruits is an easy way to boost my water intake!
3. Skip shampoo occasionally
Shampooing the hair too often can dry out the hair. That’s why I will occasionally skip the shampoo and just condition my hair. It’s an easy way to maintain a healthy oil balance on the scalp. It helps to keep my hair shiny and manageable.
4. Limit styling tools
Using heated styling tools can definitely dry out and damage the hair shaft. I try to avoid the flat iron and curling iron when I can. When I need to use the blow dryer, I use the cool setting. Another easy way to get some beautiful waves without heat? Simply go to bed in braids! When you wake up and take the braids out, you’ll have loose curls! That’s something I do almost every night!
5. Be gentle on wet hair
When the hair is wet, it can definitely be prone to breakage. To avoid damaging brittle hair, be sure to use a wide-toothed comb to detangle wet hair. Only use a hairbrush on dry hair. When combing or brushing, don’t use excessive force. Brushing gently and slowly is definitely the way to go!
6. Tame flyaways
Is frizzy hair the cause of your bad hair days? Here’s an easy tip! To tame flyaways, simply spray a toothbrush with some hairspray. Use this toothbrush right on the stray hairs that are unruly. Enjoy smooth, flyaway-free hair! Needless to say, don’t use this toothbrush on your teeth again.
