Here’s how to make the wooden tray!
Supplies:
1″x3″ wooden board, 8 feet long
2 cabinet handles
1.5″ finish nails
hammer
gray stain (optional)
foam brush
jigsaw
drill
foam furniture pads
Directions:
1. Cut the wooden board into three (3) lengths measuring 27″ long and two (2) lengths measuring 8″ long.
2. Place the 3 27″ long pieces next to each other and set the 8″ long pieces perpendicularly. Drive 3 nails through each of the 8″ long wooden boards and into each of the 27″ long pieces.
3. Place two foam furniture pads on each of the 8″ long wooden boards. This will protect the table top from any scratches.
4. You could leave the wood in its raw form, but I just love a gray stain. So I applied it with a foam brush.
5. After 10-15 minutes, wipe away the excess stain from the surface of the wood. I love this gray stain and have used it in so many projects around the house.
6. All that’s left to do is to insert the handles into the tray. Place them along the edges of the tray. Didn’t this tray turn out adorable?! I love the rustic nature of this tray- the imperfections give it so much charm!
This tray is a fabulous addition to my dining room table. I love how the gray stain lets the wood grain show through. I’m sure I’ll be using this tray for years to come!
However, this tray is also super functional for a Movie Night at home! I recently bought a few of my favorite flavors of ice cream: Häagen-Dazs® Butter Pecan 1 pint and Häagen-Dazs® Coffee 1 pint. This tray is the perfect size for carrying these containers, along with a Redbox® movie, to the living room.
When my husband overheard that I had ice cream, he made himself available for Movie Night! 🙂 So I prepared two servings of this delicious ice cream. My favorite flavor is Butter Pecan, while his is Coffee.
I also recently picked up the 3-count package of Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream Bar – Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond. These are such a fun, convenient way to enjoy the creamy deliciousness of Häagen-Dazs® ice cream. The crunch of the almonds pairs so well with the creaminess of the vanilla ice cream.
Is there anything more satisfying than curling up on the couch with a nice serving of rich Häagen-Dazs® Butter Pecan? It’s the ultimate indulgence! The combination of buttery, crunchy pecans and rich, sweet cream is pure perfection! What a fabulous way to make any evening extraordinary!
We’ve been renting Redbox® movies for many years. The convenience, affordability and selection of movies can’t be beat!
And I love that I can pick up and return movies right at my local Walmart store! Look for the Redbox® kiosk in your local Walmart.
And be sure to find Häagen-Dazs® ice cream in the frozen food aisles of your local Walmart store. Everyone deserves a Moment for Me once in a while!
Want to sample some flavors? There might be a demo in a store near you! The demos will take place on the following dates: 6/30, 7/2 and 7/3. Check this list here to find out if a store demo is in your area.
To keep up with the latest from Häagen-Dazs®, be sure to check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Now, learn more about what makes Häagen-Dazs® ice cream unique and tell me: Which is your favorite flavor? Any movies you’re looking forward to seeing? How do you spend your Me Moments?

This table top is so cute and so simple. I need this for my bedroom.
I’m an ice cream lover so it is always my go to snack.
I’m totally an ice cream lover, too!
This DIY wooden tray is a great idea. I love to snack on things while watching a movie and I love the idea of having a tray. Thanks for sharing the idea.
Yes, a snack and a movie is always a good combo! Thanks, Rebecca!
What an awesome DIY. I could definitely use this tray in a centerpiece.
I do this when I put the kids to bed in the summer. Its like my reward for keeping my kids alive another day. My oldest realized last week my routine of breaking out the ice cream when he goes to bed and thinks now he needs a reward as well. 😉 Ha ha!
Haha that’s such a cute story! I love the idea of ice cream after the kids are in bed! 🙂
Oh this looks great! It’s super cute and would be super handy for bringing food and drink outside.
I absolutely love this tray and the easy steps you show on how to make it! {client}

Thanks for the kind words, Chrishelle!

Yes, I love the look of rustic and/or industrial items!
Redbox is a go to for our family as well. And, the boys would eat a Häagen-Dazs® bar every night if they could. They are SO good.
Definitely our family’s favorite ice cream brand!!
This is such a cute serving tray!! And those sundaes look soooo good!!
All I need/want is ice cream. We’re leaving early in a.m. for vacation, how long is that deal good?
Have to say love your tray, trays are awesome aren’t they? Maybe can get hubs to make one for me when we get back, yours is great and love gray stain color. Am not allowed to use power tools, am bonafide clutz, lol.
Don’t be shocked kids but we have never rented a Red Box movie. Been so long since we saw any current movie. 2 yrs. ago got really fed up with Dish, gave them heave ho after 8 yrs. and bought antenna to get tv for free. Also got fed up with Century Link lack of knowing how to keep customers online. While sitting at pc would see truck going down to box at end of our road, pretty soon our internet would go out for 3-4 days. Put up with that for over six years out here in rural area and cut them off. Now they’re trying to get me to pay over $400. Never got any compensation for 6 yrs. of constant aggravation.
Went to Hughes Net about 4 yrs. ago as that’s all else that’s available out here. Service is so slow is frustrating to be online, especially afternoon and nights. All we get is run around but they sure take my money every month like clock work.
Dish advertises internet service all over valley but not out here. Lots of people live out here. It’s like we’re all being punished for living in some peace and fresh air, bah humbug. Sorry for rant. Fed up with western CO lack of doing what they should. We live few miles west of Grand Junction, had better service out in boonies in MT few years ago. We’d leave if we could. Again sorry for rant.Have had it with crap service.
Have great rest of week
Sorry for all the trouble you’ve had with cable service. I know it can definitely be problematic for some. Thanks for your comment, JaneEllen, and enjoy your vacation!
