Summer is officially here! The temps are soaring, the kids are out of school, and we spend a lot of time outdoors. With the upcoming July 4th holiday, we’re gearing up for a little celebration with family & friends. We’re all looking forward to some yummy grilled food & some great company. As much as we enjoy spending time outdoors during summer, we also try to avoid the heat of the midday sun. After all, there’s nothing better than heading indoors into a cool, air-conditioned space when the sun is blazing outside! To keep my kids entertained indoors, I made this easy DIY Colorful Magnetic Board. Keep reading for the full tutorial on this magnetic board, as well as the details on why we love using Go & Grow by Similac® Food Mix-Ins™ and Go & Grow by Similac® Milk Based Powder for our toddler.
Want a sneak peek at the DIY Magnetic Board I made? Here it is!
DIY Colorful Magnetic Board
Notice how the board is composed of two different colors. I designed it that way to create a designated space for each of my children to play on the board. If you’re designing this for one child, feel free to use one color. If you’re designing this for three children, feel free to use three colors.
Now, let’s get right to the tutorial for this Colorful Magnetic Board!
This is what you’ll need:
large oil drip pan (from the car care section of Walmart)
painter’s tape
spray paint
permanent mounting tape
colorful duct tape (optional)
1. First, I applied painter’s tape around the border of the oil drip pan. This will create a cute metallic border on the finished product.
2. I spray painted half of the board with a light pink color. It’s not necessary to worry about a sharp line at this point. During the next step, we will be creating a more sharp division between the colors.
3. Then, I applied some painter’s tape down the center and spray painted the other half of the board with a turquoise blue color.
4. I then removed the painter’s tape from the edges of the oil drip pan. I also placed a long strip of colorful duct tape down the middle of the pan. I think this adds a bit of visual interest to the board and helps to further define the border.
5. On the back, I placed about 10-15 squares of permanent mounting tape all over the board.
6. I hung this up right on the wall in my younger daughter’s room. Of course, I placed it at a low level so that it’s easy for the kids to reach the board. I love the way this came out!
This board makes a great spot to hang some art masterpieces created by my little artists! I also added various alphabet magnets for plenty of spelling play time.
It didn’t take too long before a few little ones found their way to this board! They loved moving the letters and numbers around. My older daughter was working on her spelling, while my younger one was creating a simple pattern with the different colors.
Play time is always so much fun and I love seeing how my kids’ creativity & imagination come to life. However, play time always results in hunger around here. And when it comes to nourishing my toddler for a busy day of playing, we love using Go & Grow by Similac® Milk Based Powder. It’s available in four different varieties: Original Sensitive, Vanilla. I love that it’s such an easy way to help balance my toddler’s diet, since it includes over 25 essential vitamins & minerals.
The Go & Grow by Similac® Milk Based Powder features OptiGro, which is actually specially formulated to support brain, eye, and physical development. All I have to do is add it to some water in her sippy cup! Please note that this product should only be used with water. If you’d like to try Go & Grow by Similac® Milk Based Powder, look for it at your local Walmart and at Walmart.com.
When it comes to boosting the nutrition of my toddler, we also love the Go & Grow by Similac® Food Mix-Ins™ packets. These packets provide nutrients to support a little one’s growth and development as they enter toddlerhood. Please note that this product does not affect the texture of the food.
These packets are so convenient and portable. I can easily bring one of them with me on-the-go. Each single-serving packet adds essential nutrition (protein, fiber, and essential vitamins & minerals) to the foods my baby already enjoys. Please note that this product may not be mixed with liquid.
The Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ packets are not a replacement for healthy eating- these packets should be incorporated into foods that are wholesome and nutritious. I love to add this to some of my daughter’s favorite foods, such as oatmeal! Use one Go & Grow by Similac® Food Mix-Ins™ packet for one serving (or ½ cup of food). Look for Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ at your local Walmart and at Walmart.com.
You can find both of these products (Go & Grow by Similac® Food Mix-Ins™ and Go & Grow by Similac® Milk Based Powder) in the baby care aisles of your local Walmart store.
Alternatively, you can order these products online at Walmart.com. I love the convenience of that!

What a great craft idea, this would be a win in both of my kids room. They like to hold on to things that don’t required an actual picture frame. This would be a great way to have them and change as they like.
