Making Time for Mommy
September 15, 2015With two young kids at home, I’m always tending to someone else! Between diaper changes, tantrums, spills and other daily happenings with a 2-year-old and 4-year-old, I often find very little time for myself. However, when I do get time to decompress and relax, I always try to focus on doing little things that make me happy!
Making Time for Mommy
Here are some of the things I love to do when I get some mommy-time!
1. Light a candle! I’m a huge believer in the power of scent, and I love candles that are seasonal! So this time of year, I’m digging pumpkin or vanilla flavored candles! The flickering of the fire, along with the beautiful scent, really relaxes me!
2. Read an interesting magazine! Between the kids, the new house, this blog, and other responsibilities, I’m often on-the-go all day long! So when I get a chance to rest, I love to put my feet up and enjoy a good magazine. I often read home decor or gourmet food magazines- they inspire me!
3. Drink a yummy beverage! I love making an iced chai latte or pumpkin-spiced coffee at home and just sipping it in the garden. I love that I can personalize my homemade drinks according to my taste (how sweet I want it) and mood (whether I prefer cold or hot)!
4. Pamper myself! I love taking some time to do my manicure. I recently discovered imPRESS Manicure, and I wanted to share with you all why I’m loving their products! It’s so simple to apply- simply peel off the backing and press on! Easy peasy! Also, there is no drying time, which is something I totally appreciate, since it means I can get right back to playing with my kids! The shine is so beautiful and bright… just like a professional gel manicure! And the UltraHold technology keeps nails on for a very long time! Oh, and they’re totally affordable- only $7.99 at Walgreens! Here are the two packs I tested out!
Pretty colors, right? Their cool PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) technology means that your natural nail will not be damaged after using their product! If you don’t have time or money for a weekly professional manicure, then you have to check out imPRESS- you’ll get the same look for much, much less! I love that they have so many different designs and styles for everyone: from French manicures to glitter-tipped bright colors!
Here are my nails after using imPRESS Manicure!
Looks totally professional, right?
I’m loving my new nails! I’ll definitely be buying more of these!
So these are the things I do to relax and decompress… tell me in the Comments below: how do you spend your mommy-time?

Thanks Linda! It’s so important to take some time aside to pamper ourselves! Have a fabulous day!
It’s so so important to take time out for yourself – no matter what the age (my kids are grown) – wonderful ideas and I love your nails!
Totally agree! Thanks Clare and have a wonderful day!
i’m with the whole beverage thing 😀
Yes, I love a nice drink! Really encourages me to relax!
Great tips! It really is so important to make sure that Mommy has had a break, it ultimately helps us be better mothers.
Absolutely agree! I NEED my breaks. I’m so happy that my husband is very hands-on with the kids and can really let me get away sometimes to just relax!
Thanks for your comment, Ashley!
Taking time for yourself is so important! :] I don’t have kids, but I’m totally with you on all those! 😛
Yes, it’s important to pamper ourselves from time to time!
I need to get better at taking some time for myself. My husband and I use to be really good at making this happen for each, but we let it slip through the cracks. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and this much-needed reminder. PS I love your blog design! It makes me want to stay awhile and click on all the buttons. Well done! 🙂
Yes, it’s totally important to make time for yourself. Taking that time for myself wasn’t all that natural for me at first, but now I’ve learned that it’s so important to recharge! Thanks for your sweet words, Kelsey!
That’s right! A balance of everything makes us even more fruitful, more efficient, and more loving moms.
