The Super Mom’s Guide to Simply Super Sweets & Treats cookbook review
October 20, 2014Do you ever feel like there is not enough time in the day to prepare snacks and treats for kids’ parties & family gatherings? Yes, me too!
Between preschool, the gym, swim lessons, grocery shopping, random errands and more, there is simply not enough free time available to focus on making yummy snacks and desserts from scratch. Nowadays, most moms are busier than ever and we all need some great shortcuts to whip together delicious treats without needing to spend a ton of time in the kitchen.
Well, the founder of Super Moms 360, Deborah Stallings Stumm, has the perfect solution. Her cookbook The Super Mom’s Guide to Simply Super Sweets & Treats for Every Season is packed full of adorably delicious snacks and desserts that little kids are sure to love! Deborah is also the founder of Party Plan-It, Inc., Event Connection 360 and Wedding Concierge 360. She has two young kids and is passionate about making women’s lives easier. Her solution for handling events on short notice is partially homemade treats. By making desserts partially homemade, the stress is taken out of preparations for birthday parties, school celebrations, holidays and more!
The premise of the book is that there is a list of Staples for Simply Super Sweets, which includes the basics (like sprinkles and marshmallows, for example), from which you can make almost every dessert in the book. Also, the book is smartly organized by season, so there is a chapter on Winter Holidays, a chapter on Valentine’s Day, a chapter on Easter, a chapter on Summer, a chapter on Fall, and many more in between. Here are some of my favorites from the book.
How adorable are these Powdered Sugar Snowmen, made simply from powdered sugar donuts threaded onto a skewer and decorated with candy? So simple and yet so genius! I don’t know a kid who wouldn’t LOVE those!
If you’re looking for something healthier, the book has plenty of nutritious, low-fat options, too! These Caterpillar Kabobs are made of green grapes and will surely turn your kid into a grape-lover!
Or what about these Pumpkin Cuties? Perfect for Fall and very healthy, these are simply comprised of a peeled clementine and a small piece of celery. Amazing!
This is just a tiny preview into what the book has to offer. There are so many creative ways to make holiday treats fun and interesting and even a novice would be able to make these unique treats using simple, everyday ingredients. Check out the Super Moms 360 website for more information on the book and be sure to follow Deborah on Twitter @supermoms360.
