Chalkboard Christmas Sign
December 13, 2014This DIY Chalkboard Christmas Sign was ridiculously easy to make, but I love the way it looks. And I love even more that it can be so easily customized to different seasons and different messages, by simply wiping away the chalk and re-writing another message.
This actually started with a basic picture frame from Ikea- this one, to be specific.
In the past, I filled this picture frame with pretty scrapbook paper and bright & cheery stickers for Spring decor. You can see it in this post! Here is a peek at this shelf sitting on a shelf during the Spring!
Now that I wanted to customize it for Christmastime, it was as simple as adhering a sheet of chalkboard paper to the front, and writing a seasonal message! Easy peasy!
Here are the step by step directions!
Chalkboard Christmas Sign
Supplies:
- a picture frame
- Self-Adhesive Chalkboard Liner
- Chalk Marker, White
Directions:
Measure the size of the interior of the picture frame. Cut the chalkboard paper to this size and adhere to the front of the picture frame.
If you have kid’s chalk, don’t try to use that for this project. I have a ton of chalk for the kids and I first tried to use one of those pieces to draw a picture and write a message. Big mistake! There is no control on the finished product and it is nearly impossible to get any fine details! Using a chalk marker instead, write a seasonal message! Draw some bunting, because everything looks much cuter with some bunting! 😉
Enjoy!

Jenn, this is so cute and I can’t believe how easy it is to make! I love how you added the bunting. I seriously <3 bunting too.
Thanks coco! Bunting really does make everything a little prettier! 🙂
