DIY foam sheet lacing card: a dollar store toddler toy

March 25, 2013 0 By EngineerMommy

I picked up a bunch of foam sheets from the dollar store for this project. So I’ve heard that toddlers love lacing cards. Those cards with a series of holes where a toddler threads a pipe cleaner through the holes!

So I decided to take one of my foam sheets and my hole puncher and make a ton of holes all around the perimeter of the foam sheet.

Then I grabbed a bunch of pipe cleaners and sat down with my toddler. I showed her first how I threaded the pipe cleaner through the holes so that she would “get it.” And she did! She loves playing with this toy, especially in restaurants, when mom and dad want a few minutes to chat! 🙂
