My Favorite Decadent Yogurt Parfait

October 8, 2011 2 By EngineerMommy

This yogurt parfait is one of my favorite things to prepare for breakfast, but honestly, I have enjoyed this as a snack and dessert as well. It is fairly decadent (read: high in calories) but it can be modified accordingly for those interested in saving some calories.

Grab a tall, pretty glass and put one layer of vanilla yogurt on the bottom. Add 1/4 cup of granola. Then drizzle a little maple syrup on top of the granola. Top with sliced bananas and fresh berries (I usually use chopped strawberries and blackberries). And then repeat with another layer of vanilla yogurt and so on until you get to the top of the glass. Then top with a final dollop of yogurt and sprinkle some powdered cinnamon and put a cherry on top!

To save some calories, instead of the vanilla yogurt, use plain nonfat yogurt and omit the maple syrup entirely. With or without the calorie-saving modification, this parfait is so delicious. The creamy yogurt, the crunchy granola, the tartness of the berries, the sweetness of the syrup… Perfection!
