Installing an Under-the-Sink Water Filter

When we first moved into our current home, one of my favorite aspects of our kitchen was a dedicated faucet for drinking water. The sink had two faucets (one for washing hands/dishes and one for filtered drinking water), but there was one problem. The water filtration system under the sink was quite outdated and needed to be replaced. Installing an Under-the-Sink Water Filter
To get started with the installation, first locate the water valve that supplies water to the faucet in question. Shut it by turning the valve clockwise. Disconnect the cold water line at the valve, but be prepared to catch any dripping water in a small tray.

Next connect the hoses from the Water Filtration System to the water supply valve and to the faucet. I like to wrap the pipe threads in some plumbing tape to create a tighter seal and guard against leaks.

You can mount the filter bracket on the inside of the cabinet with the included screws. If you do, be sure to leave at least 3″ below the bottom of the filters for easy replacement in the future. Turn on the water valve and check for any leaks. Tighten valves, if necessary.

Turn on the faucet. Allow the water to run for 3 minutes or until the water is crystal-clear. Initially, you will likely see cloudy water (due to air bubbles), but this should lessen within several days.

Keep in mind that these filters last an average of 1 year. Worried you’ll forget about replacement? Here’s a useful tip: write down the date of installation so you can keep track of the timeline. Our water here taste nasty and we spend a fortune on bottled water which isn’t good for the Environment so I need to check into a water filter and see if it makes a difference in the taste of the water. As it would keep the Environment safe and save us money as well.

We definitely need one of those at our house. Our water is extremely hard and it does not is good. It definitely needs to be filtered. My husband is pretty handy so I’m thinking that he could do something like this too.

Nope I am not comfortable doing my own plumbing. We’re not handy. My Dad used to help and once he got older we have a friend that’s a plumber that helps.
