Tahini Sauce Recipe

January 18, 2015 0 By EngineerMommy

If you’ve never heard of tahini sauce, then you better stick around – this sauce is probably one of my favorite sauces to pour over chicken, fish, vegetables, etc. You name it, it probably tastes better with some tahini sauce. The sauce is fairly simple to make, requiring only a handful of ingredients, a blender and about 5 minutes of your time.

Tahini sauce is made from tahini paste, which is a sesame seed paste- it’s similar to a nut butter. It’s technically a seed butter. Very nutty flavor. When you add in the lemon juice and garlic, the sauce has a lovely balance of sour and savory flavors. Adding some water brings the consistency to a pourable texture.

Let’s get to the recipe now!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup tahini paste
  • 1/2 cup – 3/4 cup water (add more water as necessary to achieve a pourable consistency)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice

Directions:

Starting with 1/2 cup water, add the ingredients to a blender and combine thoroughly. Add more water if necessary to achieve a consistency that allows you to pour it on top of chicken, fish, veggies, etc.

Store in a sealed mason jar. Enjoy!
