DIY Embroidered Pencil Cup
August 21, 2015This is a fun project that’s perfect for getting your desk spruced up just in time for Back-to-School! All you need is one of those metal mesh cups (sold at Walmart, Target, dollar stores, etc.) and some needle & thread! You can embroider pretty much any design you like… the possibilities are endless with this one! Customize the color of your thread, customize the word you choose, customize the color of the mesh cup, etc.
I decided to use some baker’s twine in pink and create a zig-zag design on top and then make a big “J”! Once Sophia saw this one, she requested one for her as well. At four years old, she’s not exactly going to be sitting down to do homework this year, but it’s still a fun little craft that I’ll probably make one for her, too! She does have a ton of markers and colored pencils! 🙂
DIY Embroidered Pencil Cup
Supplies:
metal mesh cup
embroidery needle
thread or twine or yarn
Directions:
1. Plan out your design. Decide what shapes or letter you would like to make, and decide on their sizes!
2. Thread the needle and make a knot on the end. Starting from the inside (so the knot won’t be as visible), start weaving and creating your design.
3. Once done, end on the inside with another knot to keep it from unraveling.
It’s such an easy, simple project! And I love that it adds a fun touch to my office desk!
